Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Unprofessional

So this morning several announcements were made of store closures... but the the stores were removed from the list shortly after. Talk about total mess.

You were taken off the list because they could not finalize a liquidator to liquidate the store. You will be on the next list or they may find another liquidator to fill in.

Yes this morning my store had a meeting to announce closing. During the meeting my manager got a call and we were taken off the list.

The final list for 5/31 ended up being 63 stores, so it looks like 9 of the original 72 got a temporary reprieve.

Yes, definitely a warning. Of course, with all the random stealth closures the last few months, the Sears or Kmart sign outside should already be a warning.

If you were told your store is closing and then told it isn't I would consider that a warning. Probably just a logistical problem delaying closure.

There is no public list at all yet. I think he's saying the employees in some stores were told by their managers this morning that their store was on the list, but then corporate changed their mind and took them off the list. If true, that means the claim in another thread that all the affected stores were decided on weeks ago is wrong. They maybe knew the bottom 100 underperforming stores, but hadn't settled on which 72 of them would get closed this time.

Probably because not all the closing locations may have been informed of their fate yet.
