Thread regarding CVS layoffs

FFL

Was asked to participate in the new class but have reservations about it being nothing more than free work for my DL. Any graduates of the program that can offer any advice?

How do you tell your DL you don’t want to do it. They nominated me and I dont want to do it!! Is it a requirement?

Stay away. Focus on yourself and your store. A close colleague has been strung along with this program for 3 years. He’s basically just his district’s goffer. He has had enough especially with the new DL who craps on him even more. It was offered to me and I laughed at my DL. The company can’t figure out if they are even keeping managers/DLs and he’s stressed all the time. Why the hell would I even consider doing that to myself.

Like everything else at CVS, the FFL Program would be great if executed as intended. Talent should trickle from the top down, at CVS talent is at the bottom and chokes you instead!

It’s Spring and all the weeds above you at CVS are trying to choke you, find a company that gets rid of the weeds and uses Miracle Grow!!!!

Everything people are saying is true. I too did the ffl program. It was a joke. The classes are a waste of time. The project at the end was so stupid and put together at the last minute. The experiences you have to complete with the help of your supervisor, never get done. My supervisor kept assigning me other tasks to make his life easier. He never focused on teaching me or going through the “experiences” the ffl classes laid out for me. He kept telling me, “don’t worry you have plenty of time, we will get them done.” But really he just wanted me to make his life easier. It’s a big scam!!!!!

A big scam!

Don’t fall for it.

It’s all political. You can have the best #s demonstrate capabilities but if you aren’t in the political graces of your leadership aka drink every sip of kool aide they serve you, forget about it. Been through it, seen many others screwed over by it.

Stay away ! The reality is they promote on likability not performance based ! You will feel like a fool after you are used for several years and then removed from the program . Take your talent elsewhere! Go now!

Been in program for couple yrs. Been overlooked for promotion a few times during the recent restructure due to DLs moving back into stores. It is true you will spend your days off doing special projects and DL tasks. It is rewarding but you still have a store to run at high level. Not sure in the long run it is worth it. Takes a toll on your energy and family

The company is upside down at the moment, you would be foolish not to see the upside for yourself during this period of uncertainty. What do you have to lose?

Don't do it. You won't be paid for anything and will be working for free.

Completed a year of FFL in '17. These other comments are correct... you'll also be told "you'll get out of FFL what you put in" and all that jazz. If they don't focus on your leadership competencies and really give inspiring mentorship weekly... I'd say your following a bullcrap path.

Honestly, the monthly meetings and mentorship was good, just time consuming. But look, they left us without communication when the restructure happened. And this year I was told to help out in the district again and again.... which I did. Recently they said ffl might be an option again later. Redo the entire last year...? Ditch my valuable free time with family again.... to do it for another year without a good leader, after leaving us with nothing? NO THANKS. Don't follow the dangling carrot, my friend. Company needs to collapse in my opinion, after what they've been putting stores through with budgets, increased task expectations, and now "accountability accountability accountability" if you can keep up. It's not a good working environment anymore. Period.

You’ll be a slave for the DL. Everything from handling all store customer complaints to being in charge of all stores inventory in your district. Same pay and more responsibilities. You will make the DLs life easier
