Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Finally!

Somebody is finally investigating what we have been saying has been going on for years now. The federal watchdog for equal employment is now investigating Intel for possibly targeting older employees for layoffs because of their age.

Of course, this is an age-discrimination. I hope they take Intel to court. I will join in if there is a way, a website somewhere, maybe. Intel forced me to sign a paper that I cannot sue, because they KNEW they were doing something bad, else why would they force you to sign a paper.

Yeah. Seems VPs are immune to layoffs as long as they are friends with BK and executive board. Totally useless people. Their only job is to go around spouting off crappy gobbledegook half-a-- strategy that changes before the ink is dry. They are supposed to make strategy work, but all they ever do is keep changing it. Totally useless.

Of course someone with a VP title is always exempt from any age discrimination.

In fact VPs are permitted to unretire 9 months aftter announcing their own retirement.. LoL

Really naive for any of you to think that anything would change by this, either at Intel or at IBM.

Heck it's been even worse at IBM and they're gonna get to just keep doing it too.

It's going to be the usual slap on the wrist at the very most, and absolutely nothing might happen.

truth! i hope they make a huge example out of this. This was by design, pure age discrim(nation. The data shows this, they were firing folks with technical Master’s degrees while simultaneoisly recruiting H1B and hiring YOUNG RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES. That’s right HR, they arent college graduates, they are RECENT college graduates.

Makes one wonder why there have not been any whistle blowers among either the HR or management ranks?

@ktv. At the 2016 Focal FLMs were asked to rank their staff. They had to give SSL4/5 to some people in the group, so they picked those they didn't like or get on with, or simply those older than 50.

After four years of preparation and debate the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was finally approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. Enforcement date: 25 May 2018 - at which time those organizations in non-compliance may face heavy fines. Now, your name, address, phone, age, income, history of your shopping, education, job search, etc. all is colected by Google, Microsoft, Facebook and other multinational thieves. I'm a women and do not want to disclose my age, but unfortunately, Intel and other companies layoffs people 50+ and my age can easily be found on the internet.

All the 2016 data suggested ageism at work. Intel looking to save money by firing higher paid, "older" employees. These employees had been suddenly given SL4 ratings for stock units after never having this rating in their careers. Most that you talk to never had any warnings from their management over the preceeding year that their performance "needs improvement". Most assumed their performance was good because no warnings had been issued. What a surprise it was when they received SL4s without reason, just so HR can meet their layoff quotas. Complete sham!
