Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Hoping to be laid off

SWN has become a joke! I admit it's depressing to come to work nowadays and I want to be laid off, I don't wanna be stuck doing tons of work in a crappy environment. Those laid off can look forward to new beginnings, while those left behind deal with the workload and figuring out how to function with half the staff gone. Please HR lay me off, I'm over this depressing hell hole! And I know I'm not the only wishing to be laid off secretly.

I was reading this response in another thread and I realized this was exactly how I was feeling. Give me the severance and I'll happily be on my way from this toxic environment. How sad is it that apparently a number of employees feel this way?

I agree with the post about getting a new job. The job will carry on -likely- well past any value of a severance ( unless you are just drawing a pay check waiting to retire ) .

Many have left, I’m looking . In reality it’s better for everyone. Too many people not working and worse creating a bad environment.

If you have a month and want to leave then start looking for a job. The severance is a nice bonus, but if you find another job you like that is worth more than any severance unless you plan on retiring. Like someone said earlier you will be paying your own health insurance after a few weeks or months, and you will not have short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, etc. Plus, the only weekly paycheck you will get is from unemployment and it is taxed by the IRS as well. The severance money goes fast and then the worrying starts.

Hold on to your panties, ladies! I just heard from a very reliable source that we all have another month of reprieve before the big ax comes down. Enjoy the easy money and don't stress yourself out worrying about the inevitable. I'm taking it easy but not too easy that my manager would fire me. Haha. My team lead is in the same boat so we're both just basically chillin'.

Everyday is like a severance. Gee really so what plant do you live on. Since 2016 this place has been toxic and while I was hoping it would turn around it has not nor will not. I have checked out and collect a paycheck. Most of my circle of coworkers have done the same. Glad it is a long weekend as that is less time I have to spend at work. Please HR give us a severance package soon!!! Hurry so we can time our packages with the start of our next job!!! I know so many people are anxious to leave!!!

You’ve got a paying job; your complaining !

In case you don’t know it; after your laid off you pay your own insurance ; many benefits like life insurance go away. It’s harder to find work when your unemployed. You will feel like, my friends abandoned me.

Everyday is like a severance - enjoy it and take advantage of it.

As a shareholder and former employee, I wish they would get on with it too. I’m not a Way fan; but the ELT, has a possibility of making something of this company.. and it’s got to have start with cleaning up the staff... from what I hear , SWN is still overstaffed by 50% ...

I feel the same, too. It’s terrible they are dragging this out, making us all suffer.
