Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Treating those laid off as if they've been fired

My dad was laid off today. 41 years of employment with various telecoms bought out by others. They treated him like he had been fired. Made him clean out his cube in 15 minutes and took away his access card. He wasn't the only one.

Really sorry about your dad. Is this really how the handle layoffs? Talk about treating your employees like crap until the last possible moment...

Not naming names, but two of the engineers that were laid off here were cussed out as they were being told to get out. They almost felt like they were about to be accused of something, the way this person was carrying on. That's not professional.

I sent an email to the VP of HR Scott Trezise his reply to me was : Due to the amount of people being laid off at one time the decision is made to NOT give a notice because of the fear of Network sabotage

I had friends who were laid off and they had to be escorted out of the building. I think this is to keep disgruntled employees from doing things they shouldn't on their last day.
