Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

No severance?

We were told at 1pm. All processor jobs will be gone within 12 months. Now customers have to deal with India more and more. Also to 18 jobs are at each of the 5 hubs . Another sad day to be with a company 20+ years to get this dumped on you. Oh and no severance packages were given.

Is this true??? Did Allstate really offer no severance?

"Take the money and sign, or transfer." I prefer to get class action suit going for fun and name you in it for your stellar advise "trust me 99.9% of employees have no cause for action, particularly in the case of an office closing or job elimination. Individual terminations might be a little differ." what rock from HR/Mgmt did you crawl out from and you would be the last person I trust.

If they close your office, there will be severance, and it will be the same package we’ve done under the same circumstances forever. No, they don’t address it until an office closure decision has been made and/or communicated, but there will be severance.

Yes, it includes a waiver against future legal action and disparagement of the company, but trust me 99.9% of employees have no cause for action, particularly in the case of an office closing or job elimination. Individual terminations might be a little differ.

Take the money and sign, or transfer.

They wont offer ot until an office closes. They want as many people to find other work and/or transfer as they can before making that known. I think they will offer it in the end because a severance package also includes the employee signing away the right to sue which is huge in states like CA. I was in an office that closed and people had to sign the waiver to get the severance. Still there's no way they are going to telescope that before they need to.

"We were told here it hasn’t been discussed because no 60 day notices have gone out." This seems like a possible reason from a type HR rule but it is a guess " Because if they mention it now, people will “ hang around and they don’t want that" as well as this statement. Hey but there is complete transparency. So I am thinking , when it gets down to the end and you are getting pushed from the plane they may offer something. Not saying this is going to happen but waiting for an e-mail that starts with the words changes to. This will mean some erosion to the severance package. Bottom line start looking now and if something comes up bail and don't look back. Easier said than done but rumor is now reality and that unfortunate .

That is good reasoning. I guess the idea is to get as many people to leave or retire as they can. I don't have a lot of time here, but there are plenty of people who do!

“ they are not sure if severances will be offered”

I feel like they are waiting for people to transfer or quit before mentioning severances to see who is left. Because if they mention it now, people will “ hang around “ and they don’t want that

Did they confirm no severance would be given? We were told here it hasn’t been discussed because no 60 day notices have gone out.

That’s what I heard. And it would have to be across the board.
