Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Mandatory Conference Call Tuesday 5/22 for All NE Auto Center Managers...and the speculation begins.

Maybe it will be acquired by Carl Icahn for $1 billion...or just more bull spewed with a positive spin.

I love how they started the call by telling us they had some big exciting stuff for us. Then tell us they are lowering the bar for techs by not making them do the assessment. Wow. Thank you. If someone can't pass the simple assessment I don't want to waste my time interviewing them. So rather than improve working conditions or pay they are cutting the requirements so anyone with a pulse can be a tech. And just a tip for the Sr management team. Our techs are not in elementary school, You can not give them a pizza party and expect that to make up for the lack of pay. I don't think Directors and their teams get a pizza party if they hit their goals.

Even with a new acting president they're not even trying to put lipstick on this pig anymore.

No more news of diehard service center locations, remodels, updates, nothing. Same old

So basically they said we need to hire people immediately for the Amazon deal (already behind the ball on this one) yet they are still not going to have the recruiters do their job(find applicants). They will not post on paid recruiting websites, and it's the ACM's responsibility to go out of the store and find applicants.

Pay needs to be explained better to starting employees. Sounds like a lot of people were leaving after they came off of training pay. The only real black and white layout for pay explanation is for express techs, the more advanced tech pay explanation is N/A.

Still no word on bringing back Assistant Managers...

They still do not want to hire full timers due to having to pay for benefits (they said because full timers have less flexibility, however the opposite is true).

Meanwhile, they will take up more of the ACM's time on top of the normal daily duties, there will be more conference calls, having to organize meals, and do more reviews on associates.

I guess this is their path to success?

PS: Memorial Day sales are never as good as expected. Especially with the sales AD being emailed only.

The auto center for my store has been up for lease on the Seritage website for over a year now. Obviously no one wants it but I would have trouble working there. The obvious lack of valuing the auto center is worse than the usual Sears disrespect because SHC/Seritage isn't even pretending that it's going to be ok for them.

The only WARN notice I've seen linked to recently was for the last Sears store in the city of Chicago, closing this summer.

Maybe it's connected to the WARN notice that was linked to in another post. Or maybe we'll all work for amazon now. Or closing specific shipping routes

Likely just information from or about the new auto division president.

Some auto managers in the south east are on the call as well. Not all but a handful of stores in the south .
