Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Not normal

Listen to your gut . Follow your collective intelligence and at least admit that this Work Culture of paranoia, fear and abortive negativity is not normal . No one gets up in the morning to put themselves through this , unless they have to , to pay bills .

I had a few interviews last year, after leaving DXC and one thing that struck me was how a lot of ICT, voice, cyber, Digital, cloud, storage and transformation companies were all pushing the quality of their team to the top of their value chain.

These companies were using staff energy; team spirit; achievements and pride of various people and newspaper awards to show they only used the best and most professional staff. They also had programmes to look after staff, families whilst supporting communities and charities.

I found it amusing, because arguably that was the culture of CSC back in the day, before all the black and white Seigel+Gale branding. Taglines like "People are our greatest asset" and "experience, people. results", all now wiped from history, like it never happened.

This creaking, old, dinosaur with its new, digitally-transparent emperor's clothes, now see people as just "carbons" to be pushed through their 'workforce optimisation' mincing machine before being pushed over it's leading edge like little yellow minions wearing black and white T-shirts.

I left the EDS/HP/HPE train wreck long ago, but will tell you. The culture of chaos is habitual. It was always a nepotistic environment. I was in many meetings over the years when bad numbers were coming in, and was saddened with the reaction of people managers. Rather than looking for new ways to generate positive returns, they immediately, and with glee in many cases, started the process of wfr. The environment was toxic. What remains of the management from the "good old EDS days" is the sediment of poor leaders and conniving back stabbers that have no other prospects.

I have many dear friends who remain in roles outside of "leadership", and I hear their anguish very often. There are jobs to be had. Very good ones, with amazing cultures. LinkedIn is the source, your network is critical, and your positive profile is vital. A tip I learned the hard way: disconnect your leaders from your profile. They are most definitely monitoring you! Also, many hiring managers and recruiters know them. Having a mutual connection with a potential hiring manager who happens to have a bad experience with your connection is a problem. Cut them loose. They are dragging you down!!

"Unless they have to pay bills" - as oppose to living with mom and pop you mean? Well the Mikey plan is to replace the aging workforce with children from low cost countries until they figure out how to automate them too!
