Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

How long to find a new job?

How long does it usually take people to find a new job after they were laid off?

I know everybody is talking about economy doing great and there being so many great jobs, but I've been putting out some feelers for a month now and the best response I got so far is 40 percent less than my current pay at DXC.

Is that what people who have been laid off have to agree to if they need a job right away?

Meanwhile in Australia - 4 to 6 weeks based on security clearance levels. There is no shortage of well paid roles in excess of DXC's measley pay scales which are at least 20% below market rates. No pay rise for a few years equates to inflation and rising costs moving a DXC total remuneration package going backwards. Meanwhile ML sells sh--loads of shares and makes a huge profit for doing nothing.

It took me forever to find a new role at ML's level, but I am now retired and no longer an arse-licker.

I had a good payout so took a couple of months off then about another 2 months to find a new job.

I suggest reaching out to internal recruiters on Linkedin for the companies that interest you and taking it from there. Also learn about AWS, Azure, Digital Transformation and Security as there is a huge amount of jobs in these areas.

Thank you all for responses. It's good to know it's not as bad as I imagined after my initial failed attempts. I will work on my CV more, though.

2 - 6 months but depends on how in need your skill set is. You may need to use different key words on your online cv to match the job descriptions, as all the searching is done by machine, so if you don't match you won't even get considered.

The jobs you will see are generally 5-10k lower, but depends how desperate you are. You might apply and then find you are over qualified. Don't sell yourself short. Ask yourself: could you do your boss' job? If so why not aim for that? I got a job that paid the same but offers more freedom, travel and social paid for events and although the benefits are very similar dxc flex (as a lot of companies do that lifestyle thing now) they are not as high as DXC benefits, which were a little a little over the top compared to rest of industry these days.

You could set yourself up for contract work for 3 or 6 months contracts and earn more, and you'd have to pay for your own pension, training, etc and make sure you had 3 months of salary in the bank for the doe times, but you would be looking for your next contract during work..

Even if you took a lower paid job, you could still look for other work and tell new employer you didn't fit in without criticising the firm. You could only do that once under 6 months otherwise you'd look like an unreliable job hopper.

The mid sized clients are always looking for contractors and consultants. You get an accountant or go with an agent that does all the tax and fees for you and you'd be working for them, so salary would not be higher than a normal pay job.

Whereabouts are you located?

In northern Europe, depending on your cv/skillset, Id say within 2 months you can get your dxc baseline.
