In the good old EDS days D--k Brown maintained a fleet of Learjets and travelled the world spouting his BS that nobody took for granted, until the share price dropped from $70 to $19. 6 months prior EDS made a grand announcement and "share" stock options with all employees, priced around $40. When the price crashed through the floor then the options were worthless (well the T&Cs stated that the options could not be sold for several years).

I don't know why any sane person would hold DXC shares, especially employees unless they are not of sound mind.

When I think back to the days of DXC and the adventures I had to go through just to get basic software to work with the client. It was soul destroying.

Turning up to client meetings with software that was 3 versions older and having to ask the client what older versions they could save out to, so I could read it.

I remember smiling embarrassed at a client meeting when their site lead joked with directors "You'll have to save this as a jpeg, otherwise our DXC technology partner won't be able to read it!" Yeah, yeah - very funny. Embarrasing nevertheless. Their Jpeg was till blurred and I had to write the SAN ID numbers in with pen.

Luckily my new company has all the latest gear and enterprise wizardry that handles Win10 installs in the background.. I can get a 2-line business case in for 10am; approved by Lunch; licensed released by 4pm and it sitting there when I log on from home the next day.

I remember asking my new boss: "Don't you need to pre-approve hotel and rail travel?" and he looked at me as if to ask 'where the hell do you work before?'. He said: "If we had to ore-approve everything; we'd be spending all day doing admin and nothing else. As long as its reasonable, its not a problem." and I've never had anything bounced. I've even found myself taking off a few notes when I've exceeded per-diem and accounts putting it back on to match the receipt. Wow! They don't mind a few pennies then. Not like DXC where they'd take 3 days of your time until you removed a few coins.

Ah the funny old days!

Obviously the attract, train and retain talent part only applies to ML. Plebs don't meet this criteria though.

@TctfVdf-hyu come on, there are all of those excellent training opportunities too - from live "work it out as you go along" on never seen before technology in customer production systems to "all you can eat" from the very excellent "DXC University" with its endless beginners guides to every subject known to man. You can become someone with shallow experience on a wealth of out of date tech in literally years.

People who don't do some basic research on reading glassdoor first to see what the culture is like, deserve all they get.

Well they've certainly got a "Differentiated environment ". Tick that box. I'm not so sure the plan of attracting and retaining people by never giving pay rises is going to work though. I'd love to know the attrition rates by country.
