Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Outsourcing

TJX just outsourced 500 jobs to India, wonder how long it will be before Staples does the same.

I've heard rumors a month or so back about this which i mostly ignored, but now it looks like it's becoming more and more of a reality. To be very clear, this is post is no way to bring prejudice to a particular group as people who have legally come to this country seeking opportunities are just as much impacted. These business practices need to be stopped, we need to start caring for the people again rather than putting 100% focus on the bottom $$$. I encourage you to take a look at the TJX board on this site to get an idea what is coming to Staples... people are not happy to say the least. I really do think Trump is an idiot, but it's examples like this that make me reconsider my political views. This country is in so much trouble it's not even funny.

i cant lie, it sure is fun watching this kooky show fly apart like i was fairly sure it would. it's like in Hot Tub Time Machine where that hotel dude keeps almost losing his arm... staples kept doing crazy stuff but that arm never came off until SP came in.

SDS was mostly outsourced over the last few years. After the January layoffs, many teams consist of a local non-technical handler and a completely offshore dev team. I agree nothing is saved by outsourcing. My experience at Staples has been that one local developer does the work of five or six offshore workers - and that's not counting fixing the stuff offshore breaks. It does not have to be that way - I've worked with talented offshore people before - but Staples isn't going for trained and talented workers, just bodies to fill a headcount.

TJX was outsourcing Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) jobs, which are already largely outsourced at Staples. The rumor was that SDS would be entirely, or almost entirely, outsourced to TCS, which is hard to imagine - but with Sycamore, anything goes.

P.S. if you are counting on Trump to put an end to Wall Street's ravenous pursuit of profits over people, think again. He only cares about his own profits, not yours.
