Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

What are we looking at on May 17?

Do we have any more info on what will be hit the most? Are we looking at more stores closing or only at layoffs of staff within the stores?

The rumors at work have been all over the place, from conversion to indirect to elimination of entire roles.

It would be nice to narrow it all down at least a little bit.

Ya it’s for profit that’s why they’re doing away with corporate retail

The cuts occured last week and will not be ocurring tomorrow or June 1st. Also, no sense getting worked up over what you cannot change. If you're that worried about this stuff, jump ship now so that way we can reduce the number of people we cut in the next round. This is a for profit company that isn't run by any of us, changes are going to happen.

the remainder of the wireless call centers are going hba as leases expire or where breaking lease is less debt than keeping center open. this is not a layoff per se but attrition based on reps unable to meet hba requirements. visible is replacing prepaid. try to stay off pip for best results.

"It's either the 17th or June 1st."

I'm guessing May 17th. That way they can get the cut employees, off the books by July 1st.

The last big layoff, was the middle of November, so they could have us off the books by January 1st.

(I'm not sure if this applies to wireless, or just wireline.)

There’s been a lot of pushback on the other board saying nothing will happen on the 17th.
