Is it true that HR has now put a freeze on GE Digital staff’s internal transfers to other LOBs? Does this mean that GE Digital is being sold and to whom?

Does this mean that any GED employee can still apply for a transfer while the freeze is in effect? What criteria will the committee use to grant or deny the transfer request?
Right now the freeze is in place to ensure that GED is still viable for itself as a new company or for potential buyers. Any transfers at this time will go through a committee review process.
Had a friend of mine work for Transportation, before the sale to Wabtec there was a freeze on all EE's, and the three months later bang sale to Wabtec. I just left GE after 16 years. The last 2 in Digital IT cyber security, looks like I may have made the right decision. I know the people I worked with were all fairly new to GE and took full advantage of the permissive time off. I mean where else could you be in a job for a year take eight weeks vacation paid, work from 10-3 days, and get paid for 40 hrs.
Don’t be fooled. This there won’t be a merger or new business. This is a straight up sell of GE’s IT and cyber security orgs. Whatever they do, the DOJ should review as the GE does a great deal of government work and deals with sensitive technology. Under the new government rules the buyer wouldn’t be able to be foreign.
It is a all a game and the employees are just pieces on the board. You may have thought you had control over your destiny at GE, but in actuality those at the very top are deciding your future. Jim's exit was the death knell for DT as it signaled that he knew the game was over and wasn't playing any more.
What happens to the predix groups? Wise.io?
I’m a year out from the glorious VJRP and that previous response was good except it missed on point. Every time we sold a business, those poor f---ers were locked in. The freeze means Digital is done
Basically yes. Does not mean Digital will be sold. Look at your sub-business on your profile. You will be moved back to that business if it is one of the verticals that exist today.
The future for those not aligned to a business (shared services mostly) will be moved to what they service the most. The issue is that there will be some synergies and low workload across several verticals for some of these employees. Most will be let go starting in 3rd quarter this year through end of 2019. Coretech is being split off to merge with some other organization and provide lower priced services back to GE. Cyber Security is also going to moved out to another company and provide services back to GE at a lower cost (the agreement is already done but not telling employees yet).
Forget about what management is saying about keeping focus on you job and delivering for GE. Lots of companies are starting to downsize IT so if you are not looking you probably miss out on the best opportunities. Those loyal to GE should ask themselves why. Things will never be like they were a few short years ago.
