It is on a store by store basis. We have two full time 40's in our store who do get 40 hours per week every week.
With the rumors of store layoffs pending, full timers may be targeted for this round. Most of the full timers that are left are in management, so you might see most leads go (if not all of them) and maybe a few supervisors (probably operations). That's what I'm predicting.
If you made your own schedule, why wouldn't you schedule yourself 40 hours? My associates making more money isn't gonna pay my bills. Sorry, not sorry.
Our MPU manager makes the schedule and always gives herself 40 hours and the part timers get 5
Every grandfathered FT40 associate in our store was reclassified as FT30 in Feb......Basically a 25% paycut....Some of those affected quit.
Part 2
The full time category is really just important when it comes to vacation pay. They get paid 8 hours a day when FT 30 only gets paid 7 and accumulate less vacation.
Hours really is up to Manager and business needs
There Is a very few group of people that are grandfathered in as full-time 40 hours. When the changes came late January of this year all FT 40 in Softlines were switched to Full time 30.
The only Full time 40 if any in your store are in Hardlines.
But the full time requirement is a minimum of 30 for FT30 that doesn’t mean the manger who makes the schedule can choose to give them 40 every week anyway. Most of the time the FT are the best employees (top performers) so that’s they’re excuse
