Hummm, they did just have stores ensure cables were in place for remote monitoring. Time will tell.

Ross LP certainly seems to be more effective than Sears. Ross stores have only one entrance area per store (unless they have some locations in malls; all the ones I've seen are in strip shopping centers), and an LP person in a boldly-labeled jacket hangs around the entrance all day, as a deterrent. The regular associates roaming the store are required to watch for not only people behaving suspiciously, but also any ripped-off merchandise tags, damaged security devices, and 'hidden' merchandise. They keep track of these things they see by placing color-coded stickers on a big store map in the back, to identify the problem areas that need closer watching. Suspicious customers are approached by the regular associates in non-confrontational ways (see https://www.reddit.com/r/lossprevention/comments/798etn/just_got_hired_at_ross_anything_i_should_know/dp005j6/ for details). Like most chains of stores, they don't accuse/apprehend/chase for fear of getting sued, but they seem to do a good job of everything short of that. I'm a contractor who's been in the back rooms of many different stores, and Ross is the only place I've seen do that hot-spots map.

I think they need to cut the DMs before AP

What a dumb move by company

Will this happen after all inventories are completed

This decision is just going to encourage more shoplifting

Really does make sense especially when they can't do anything. People have still been walking out with merchandise in our store and this is even with the AP guy in the store.

AP now that's a swamp that needs to be drained. There are more layers in AP than an onion has but the onion smells a lot better than these fools

I mean what else is their to cut? My AP does nothing really just walk around and just make easy money. At this point I would not be surprised the AP in our store is gone I can see a lot of more stealing to happen now.

If true, this is crazy. But maybe it is not, because it's obvious they don't plan on being in business for long.

So many stores are experiencing the effects of not having AP already and their shrink is dizzyingly high. I wonder why? And, if you are not an AP associate, you can't do anything to stop shoplifters except "customer service" them. But you have to pick your battles and weigh the risks because some shoplifters will call corporate and report you for harassment and you could lose your job, so it's best just to ignore these bottom feeding losers. Not worth losing your job when the company obviously could care less whether something is paid for or stolen. I've seen it happen, we lost a 10 year associate strong in sales and pa's because some guy high on meth came in with his backpack and didn't like that he was being offered customer service by this associate due to his overly suspicious behavior, so this loser called corporate and because they believed him, they made our store manager fire the associate. Managers can't do anything either. They can't even call the police. They only can call remote monitoring. but what can they do from 500 plus miles away?

It's the kiss of death and I view this move as their intention of not being in business for much longer. Because retailers that want to stay viable have AP in their stores. Even discount stores like Ross's have loss prevention.

When are the Apple products and Xboxes coming in?

I mean, there really isn't anything left worth stealing in an average Sears store, so it makes sense at this point.
