Thread regarding Sears layoffs

They are hiding the real number of those laid off

My director called me at 3:58PM to tell me this would be my last day then handed me off to HR. I work out of a location in Texas, but report up to a leader in HE. So I'm not included in the HE headcount but I was definitely impacted today. "Stealth" firings--kind of like those under-the-radar store closings--are happening with each round of reductions. My hunch is that the REAL number of jobs lost today is probably 10-20% more than what they admit to.

At any rate, I'm glad it's over. Best of luck to everyone.

Bumped from @TSesP1o-aql for info.

@yhi - actually, I wasn't part of the HE headcount. My team has people in several locations and my payroll was allocated to the line of business that hired me years ago. I got lumped under the HE leader when my previous manager was let go.

Has there been an official head count reported?

You may have worked remotely but if you reported to an HE based expense line you were considered a part of HE head count. I had the same experience years ago when I had to layoff 5 of my staff, all based remotely, but axed as part of an HE headcount reduction. Nothing "stealth" about it.

Go on the Sears website. Go out 109 miles on a store search.

Anything resembling a full line store with the exception of a few per state are no longer listed .

Need a mattress or appliance?

Small stores and some auto centers.

Sears is you place .
