Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Missing in action

What has happened to the executive management team? The company goes through a major systems upgrade that is a complete disaster (and the nightmare continues even almost 4 weeks in), they announce a major NA sales reorg while laying off a significant amount of people earlier this month, and the execs are nowhere to be found. Not a single word, email, announcement or acknowledgment of what has and is happening. The employees have been set up to fail and no “leadership” to be found. I’m not shocked, but it is appalling that any of this is considered acceptable business practice. Or is this part of some master plan to kill off the NA businesses? Makes one wonder...

If you are looking for the NA general managers, word is that they had an off site meeting at the Broadmoor Hotel to discuss the recent changes. So a few hours of meetings, tee time mid day, expensive dinner with drinks, and more after hour drinks. Repeat the next day. They are keeping ES legacy in place.

"part of some master plan to kill off the NA businesses", would be the only explanation that actually makes sense about many of the decisions that have been made by Leadership over the last 5 years. If they followed the philososphy of George Costanza, and did the exact opposite, they would be a far better off company.

I think you've hit the nail right on the head. Something else much bigger is going on.

Not a word from these leaders either for those that were let go. No thank you for years of dedicated work that brought in millions of dollars. No thank you for sacrificing vacation time to put out (never ending) fires. No thank you for loving your job so much that it actually made a difference. My advice, take it or leave it, is to look around and see what else excites you. Look for an industry that is growing. In its day, this business was actually fun. Everyone deserves to have a job that when you wake up on Monday morning you can’t wait to get the week started.
