My thoughts and prayers are with every person/family affected by the layoffs. The fortunate ones have enough time with SHC to retire but that isn't the rule, just the exception. More and more the anniversary dates of employees are single digits with very few 20-30-40 year employees left. Sad to see such an icon struggle they way it is. And dont believe the b.s. about closing stores due to profitability....while true in some cases, there are several that it is simply a real-estate game, the building/property is worth more short term to fund interest on loans than the long term revenue generated.

@alu - I don't believe that a guy that lives in his mama's basement has a wife. The woman that made that comment about him accepts cash only.

I was cut yesterday at Hoffman. Luckily for me I will just slide into retirement. If I was 10 years younger I would be in a bad situation.... but then again if I was a younger person I would have made a stronger effort to get out... let's face it, working for this company is very risky.... the bottom can fall out at any time

OP what else do you want 250 is a lot of people that lost their jobs being Sears. You know at this point from corporate to retail stores the crew is right now at skeleton levels. If you go to a retail store you will only see one cash register open and one softline at times handle the whole store now with SST no one is at shoes. So ya 250 is a lot and this is not the end I am sure like last year more cuts to come in July.

What, you think upending 250 families' lives in this week's layoffs wasn't enough for your enjoyment? Sociopath.

What the more do you want? Bloodshed? War? Famine?

You are sick. What kind of person feels disappointed because the layoffs were "smaller" than they expected?

Sick sick sick.
