Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Hoffman network has been temporarily banned

Banned by thelayoff.com likely due to server lag caused by excessive access requests from internal users. Just goes to show how many people in the building are relying on this site for updates on those being let go today. Not like management can be depended on for accuracy, our VP just told us our entire BU was not affected not knowing 2 people were already sent home.

If you really want to know what is going on at Sears this site "tells it like it is", sure there can be a little fake news now and then but it sure beats reading the drivel on pebble. Thanks to all of you reporters out there putting your feedback in. I wonder how many folks on floor B6 in Hoffman read the comments here? (the executive suite). I also like to read what the store folks have to say, they really have to put up with a lot and have to really work hard to keep the stores going. They are facing our customers and have to take the heat when things are not working properly. Working in retail is not for sissies.

The wi-fi in my Sears store is horrendous, and the in-store network is constantly bogged down and glitchy. If I need to look anything up on the internet I use my mobile, the company terminals are useless if you want quickly search anything other than sears.com or do store-to-home.

I'm surprised IT hasn't blocked this site from the network. EVERYONE I know is very aware of this site's existence, managers included. Could only imagine how many others are well aware of TheLayoff.com at other stores and at corporate headquarters.

This board is like an after-hours Pebble without all of the sanitized propaganda and false pretenses. You won't find info on Pebble about layoffs or any kind of troubling experiences because it is deemed "negative" and is promptly deleted. If you only went by what the rhetoric was on Pebble you would be convinced that everything was fine until you were smacked "by surprise" with a layoff, store closure, organizational change or a "new" (terrible) way of doing something.

I always access this site with no issues on the in-store Wi-Fi during my breaks. It would be unwise to do so on a company PC under your login but I'm sure some people can and do. Of course with Wi-Fi you are not anonymized but it would be hard to pin down who is accessing TheLayoff when about half or maybe over three quarters of the company is doing it.

So if in IL and you have 20 years you get 10 weeks? Or you get 20 weeks and the 10 weeks in the min if you have less than 10 year because of the warn act?

Looks like 10wks is the minimum for Illinois, not other states. It is 1yr=1wk of severance pay min 6 and max 20 outside of IL.
