So far, it seems that no one is backing down on the US China trade war. If things continue on this path, is there any chance that parts and/or drive shipments in and out of China will be affected? Yeah, I know Seagate is an "Irish" company and therefore isn't technically American, but its well understood that's a legal fig leaf. Just wondering how far this will be pushed before cooler heads prevail.

So in the US there is a 25% tariff on hard drives made in China:

Can Seagate divert production of hard drives bound for the US to non-Chinese manufacturing sites?
They may ship them all to Oklahoma, The facility is all but a ghost town with a huge amount of square footage.
Thanks for the clarification.
Let me clarify...they are moving units from China to US locations to be held. Normally factory shipments to the US are meant for specific customers. In this case they are shipping product just to get it in country then they will figure out who they can sell it to later
"They are trying to move as much factory allocation to the USA before the tariffs kick in around the 1st week of July"
Does Seagate actually manufacture drives in the US? I thought that their drive assembly was in China and SE Asia. I know at one time they had two plants in China, then they closed one.
Doubtful. They have factories (in house and contract) in China.
They are trying to move as much factory allocation to the USA before the tariffs kick in around the 1st week of July. They just don't know where to put the product yet.
Irish company with drive stamped MADE IN CHINA
