Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

What's happening with IT

IT Operations being taken over by IBM effective Aug 1. 29 people in IT Operations will be offered IBM positions. Some will be laid off effective Oct 1. The rest will be kept on until the projects they are working on are completed, then laid off.

This is the most complete explanation of what's going on with IT, I thought putting it on the front page for info could be helpful. It was posted by @TM7wbJS-pmx.

The stupidity of the CIO at windstream, rumor has it they inked 7 year contract with IBM. Also, according to eyewitness accounts, while Thomas P was in twinsburg announcing to the employees that they were losing their jobs, his phone rang. He said,oh it's Lewis Langston (CIO), I have to take this call. He proceeded to take the call while everyone was silent in the room and some people near the front heard Lewis's question to Thomas; "how did my video look on stream? Was it good? How did it come off?". What an arrogant, pompas person, from little rock, thinks he is god's gift to the business world.

1/3 of the IT org. Almost all employees under Thomas Paranteau or however you spell his name. The guy that replaced Ted Thomas. Unix admins, storage admins, helpdesk, DBAs etc.

IT operations, can you expand on this? How many employees would be impacted, it sounds like it would be a lot of people unless it was targeted at a more specific subset, this definitely does not sound like “growing the business” but rather circling the wagons to keep executive paychecks flowing until the inevitable end

Those offered IBM positions are only going to be there long enough to 'train' overseas replacements. Get ready for the quality of internal IT support to completely tank.
