Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Belgium bums going on strike - but to be honest, how many customers does DXC has in Belgium ?

.... and in these days of ultra competition in the IT industry - why should other locations, sacrifice for you folks ? - just because you have unions !

Get a life - wake up and smell the coffee.

May be you guys are too old for the IT industry; you have a good thriving diamond industry, why don't you guys leave dxc in peace and go and work in diamond mines ! ; may be start a union there !! as well.

You changed the dxc logo in the youtube video you guys posted ; do you think nobody in dxc noticed that. you guys are a fineprint in the large dxc, so go and work for an EU company.

Charles Michel is right on. 69 freaken people and your b--ching. If you say they are breaking the Belgium law why strike, report them to the government. If the government isn't doing anything are you going to strike your government and not pay taxes?

minimum of 20 days vacation . In addition, there are 10 legal holidays in Belgium, many of them religious days, plus regional holidays. You all are so lucky, stop complaining

Will not give up.... will fight with more vigor and become more resolute to fix the DXC management even if it requires them to be put behind bars (not the liquor bar but iron bars of imprisonment)

Belgium is the example for which we must be supportive of as it is a 'canary in a coal mine' case. If DXC wins it here them all companies will follow the same footsteps.. something that should never ever happen.

The same goes with Malaysia. We are with you.. Belgium and Malaysia .. down with the greedy DXC management, stand up for your rights and dignity.

Belgium IT is a footnote in history - a bit like when diesel trains replaced steam engines.

Just get with the program and be old, poor, your skills no longer required and jobless.

@charles michel. Those are just your views, I know you might find it difficult to understand, but as reflected in this thread there are diffeent views. Why are things totally skewed towards the shareholders, with the people who help create the wealth, (employees) barred form sharing in it?

This is a profitable company that treats its employees with total disdain, they deserve to be brought to account for their crap, destructive, job destroying antics.

Good luck Belgium!

What hurts me the most when reading all this is that the top management can take the most stupid decisions on earth and they get bonuses while the people at the bottom get sacked.

I'm in this company for a very long time and I've seen quite a lot of bad decisions : Altavista was the top internet search engine. They've done nothing with it. And Google is born. We know how big it is today. RDB was the best DB on this planet and they've done nothing with it. Oracle took over. VMS and DECnet phase IV were a dream compared to Unix : a cluster was native and the networking was simply evident. This has been washed away. HP was one company where any customer of any size could find a solution to his IT challenges. They splitted it in "small" companies. Then "offshoring" or "bestshoring" was the trend : I'm facing customers all the time and believe me, they are eager to have local people to interact with.

Today they succeeded to divide us at the very bottom of this company. What a pity. Let's fight among us : this is what the people at the top are working for. The more we are divided and frightened, the best it is to take any decision without reaction from our part.

This is at least what I think ...

Whatever said - a company has to act according to the law. The greed of the company is not above the law in the countries they work in. A company should foloow the etics and give a good example.

what is the difference between mafia and coorporations if they are both going to trash the legal requirements of the countries they operate in.

DXC might be incorporated in the USA but DXC employees in Belgium work for a Belgian company in Belgium under Belgian and EU law.

Sorry if that's not making America Great Again, but that's actually how things work in the big old world outside of the US of A.

the original poster may have used wrong choice of words. All work force reductions are sad and painful. But there are some merits in the comments though :

  1. Employees in Pontian, Plano, india, manila, costa rica are wfr'ed (for what ever reason) and they find a job and move on - cause they are smart and could find another job - they don't start a union and thrash dxc on youtube videos

  2. Whatever said and done dxc is an org of 150k people in 70 countries - you guys want to post things in youtube and drag the whole company down and screw the life's of 150k people - how is that fair

  3. if you are a bunch of smart people in Belgium, then why would you all get together and create a new startup ? -

  4. You expect your social benefits subsidized out of the work of people in other countries - we get less than a weeks notice here in US and other places

  5. You are making such a big fuss for 69 people - what about the 6900 people let go in US !

  6. We live in Trump's world guys - so go upskill yourselves and find another job and don't thrash dxc and make the llife of existing people in dxc's life miserable (just because you are toasted)

  7. Work will move to cheaper places (read what happened to american manufacturing jobs ! ) that is the nature of capitalism and dxc is incorporated in US - so no one is protected.

Sorry to tell you Unions won't help. They helped for a while in the US, then costs got to high and they went to India, Europe and its never coming back.

Now all the union people I know are paying dues so Union bosses can get rich and they do nothing for the member's. Face it DXC will pull all but necessary work force out of Belgium.

Feel bad for you, but not that bad because our jobs are going away too. F--- Mike Lawie

Let me correct your troll post for you:

"in these days of race to the bottom in the exploitative global IT industry - other locations get hosed because they don't have unions !"

Where the work force chose not to protect themselves, the bosses cr@p all over them. Don't be jealous, organise and agitate!

But you keep your union hating shizzle up mate, I'm sure you'll dream of becoming a boss one day and doing it to others.

Don't feed the troll...

and as regards to other locations having to sacrifice..... 50% of Belgium ES employees work on international accounts. When other locations get hit, accounts come to Belgium to get quality out of teams that have not yet been affected, thanks to local legislation and unions.

I'm with you Belgium.

Let the Quisling's complain until they make it to the top of Mikey's list, get the chop, and lets and hope they get their legal entitlements withheld.

If large American corporates want to do business in these countries then they should abide by the local laws ! DXC are exhibiting despicable behavior in their treatment of Belgian employees.

I for one support you Belgium .
