Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

It’s a New York panic state of mind!

Watching people scramble looking for toy jobs in an industry that’s abandoned the east coast is quite entertaining. like roaches scurrying when the lights go on, yet they don’t learn. The worried faces, thebreaching out to ex co-workers looking for a clue or lifeline. Anything to help them keep their heads above water. A word to all of you hoping for another toy job: go west young man/woman. just don’t keep your hopes up. the local supermarkets are always hiring! you can stock toys there!

Another designer gone and what s---s is this guy was aces. True professional that always produced and didn't get an offer to relocate. Why? Maybe he didn't fit into the Mattel mold for the ES fashionistas or didn't wear the hip clothes. Either way they lost out on a stellar designer. The superficial mean girls club still exists and body shaming is their number 1 past time.

This is what happens when fear and desperation sets in. Everyone turns on each other. Pathetic human nature. If you get laid off find another job. Stop being so bitter and move on. If you don’t be glad and help out the people who do. Jacka$$e$.

As they each have their last day in the NYC office they get a hug, some feigned misty eyed goodbyes and then everyone turns and goes back to doing nothing like they never existed in the first place. I feel like this is a slow torturous hell. If it wasn't for the severance and waiting on a few callbacks I'd bolt in a heartbeat. I can't stand this place. So damn depressing.

This is the week that the first round of people being pushed out of the NYC office begins! Get ready to welcome a new crew of disgruntled ex-mattel employees to the board!

To the OP...people arent scrambling. Quite a few already found new jobs and some people are already trying to get out of the industry. Stop being dramatic

There are a lot of out of work toy people on the west coast as well and probably a few more coming up soon. Good luck to everyone out there.

MZ has made so much bank over the years doing absolutely nothing that he doesn’t have to work anymore. he’s in his early 60s and you jerks are going to give him a big feigned happy send off because you’re all cowards.

Already at a new job and taking cruel shots and enjoying anxiety and demise of others? You need help. Get counseling.

Hey LP:

I’m already at a new company cheering for your end, but I asked MZ to hold you a place in the unemployment line.

You'll be cheering from the unemployment line dummy.

Dear OP:

And you too will find yourself out of a job when the latest intern turns out to be your replacement, or better yet, your new boss - no matter what coast you’re on.

But keep opening your mouth like you are and when your end comes, people will be cheering at your demise. I’ll be leading them 😁

except for hasbro (RI) an a couple in Florida that about it. NYC is dead for toys. I don’t know why they would still hold you fair at habitats at this point. hold it in LA. better weather there in February.

I heard that there's still a few large toy companies operating on the East Coast.
