Just more HQ PR to try and mask the massive failure IBM has become. Remember when Watson Health (and all the associated billions in acquisitions) were going to replace 10,000 radiologists? Now Watson Health is nothing but a skeleton of its original self. Made no money and was an abysmal failure. More of the same with a this announcement.
@xsa makes a good point, IBM has to demonstrate tangible results to win back confidence.
The board is from the 20th century - a bricks-and-mortar world that is receding into history. They are unable to innovate.
Stakeholders should first turn their gaze to the heads of IBM research, and question why they exist if they have not produced anything in five years worth talking about.
The future is at the discretion of shareholders, influence them, sit back and watch change happen.
Maybe this can replace Ginny at Board of Director meetings???

This IBM company will never change!
This new solution "Project Debater" will only be as good as the data its fed and/or the base-line "data tree" initially established. Really, how much money did they spend on this marketing-spin and how quickly could its framework be applied in business. Look, they've had this "Project Dealer" for a while. This is nothing more than a smokescreen before 2Q 2018 numbers are released. Show me an example of AI to streamline the supply chain, optimize product shipment, streamline manufacturing environments, where to invest my money on Wall Street. Then I'll be interested.
