Skip straight to 7nm?

With the problems facing 10nm well documented, is there a chance that Intel will try to skip straight to 7nm, or that 10nm will be shortlived?

Anyone know how 7nm development is progressing?

They’ll just do a double-shrink of 10 nm.

You have to learn to crawl before you learn to walk. I don't think TMG is capable of productizing 7nm, not for several years at least.

If Intel can't build 10nm and is years late, what makes you think they can build 7nm? To skip this generation would be suicide and the end of TMG.

Process learning at Intel and everywhere else relies on building on prior generation learning and improvement and bring in new modules, tools and additional steps to achieve scaling, performance and reliability needs.

10nm is stuck in the mud so hard to believe they can refocus and launch 7nm without serious delay and more resources.

Look at Samsung and TSMC their accelerated success is built upon huge volume and learning with each successful generation.

Intel’s train has derailed, very bad news for TMG and Intel future.

How to fix?

Step one: clear out the senior management in TMG and LTD

Step two: reset the cultural to be open and transparent both within the organization and from division to division.

Step three: change the way of doing business and adopt all the aids to enable faster and lower risk process and product IP development that the rest of the industry has already adopted.

intel chip is harder to move to 10nm not only 7nm. Intel MCM is way to go but their crappy technology isnt going help them beat amd infinity fabric. They would have done this already. If intel go to MCM their single thread suffer, if they go to 10nm their multithread suffer. HOwever AMD is in between winning single and multi threads

If I couldn't finish a 10k run, why would I try finishing a marathon?
