Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Zebra technologies sell the printers and batteries

The batteries cost a mere $42.12 not sure about the printers!

Any retailer should be able to afford that CUST as a cost of doing business or should not be in business!

I’m going to ask today if they will buy one or two see what answer I get

That's for sure!

@2nre- Exactly. The more you do for the store the more they will cut. If the store is doing the processes because employees are buying supplies then corporate will just cut the budget more. If everyone keeps doing three jobs instead of the one they were hired for then corporate will keep cutting hours.

@2ndb I know it's a kind of a joke but why should we, the employees, have to pay for the acquisition and upkeep of the equipment issued to us to do our jobs? If they don't want to maintain and upgrade the equipment, then they need to find ways to "live without" the specific processes which require the use of certain equipment they refuse to maintain or replace.

So, in the case of Zebra printers, no more bin tickets, out tags, back tags, PCNs, 991s, labels for floor displays, price verification audits or MPU pick tickets. When the printers all drop like flies and no longer work for more than five minutes, they can either pay up for new batteries or find a way to live without these processes. It's called doing business.

Don't give them any ideas about relying on us to support their business operations, 'cause before you know it, the proverbial offering plate will be passed around on Pebble with links to GoFundMe and maybe an actual offering plate at morning rally meetings in the stores. They have no shame in their game. The sad part is that I'm sure the employees that are not in a position to afford to donate would be the ones pitching in the most.

Maybe take up a collection, lol. A couple bucks from each employee would pay for an eBay battery.

@TJDdKzn-1iux Interesting no wonder things have gotten more cut. The funny part was back in the days when our hours were so good hours would still get cut to the bone and they said we have to sell more which everyone just got fed up of being exploited. Thanks for explaining this.

@1fhy- your budget is a product of your sales and changes weekly. So if you are up in sales, which most are not, then you can give more hours. If you are down in sales then your hours get cut. Each week they are alloted a certain amount of hours but they have to keep hiring to meet numbers to have a tax break. That is why they will hire people while cutting hours.

Same with buying supplies. your budget is a % of your sales so if sales are down then you can only buy so much stuff.

@1nbh I am so tempted to buy the equipment!!

Could you imagine the look on their face bringing after market battery and charger to do my job!!! Lol

Would be priceless!

I could send a certified letter personal and confidential to Eddie L

Himself and a copy to business insider requesting reimbursement

If a store can not afford replacement equipment for their employees to print a bar code for inventory how the heck does this company afford to pay the excessive wages of the DM and RM??

It’s been a good easy ride with this company, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would still be working there 12 years later still

Making minimum wage 🙄 thank goodness the state minimum wage has increased over the past 3 years

I would like to know the answer to someone in management what is the big fuss here as the OP mentioned $42 bucks just for a battery has the higher ups limit the spending power on the stores? Is it since stores are doing so bad their funds have been reduce? I always hear them complaining about their is no hours their is no money than how the hell are we suppose to do any task at this point if you ask me.

I know our store has been down vs other years so can it be that the budget invested in our stores with sales so bad mean something to buy supplies? We havent gotten that bad where we don't have the supplies like paper and printer ink of what I heard, but what we don't get any perks like little parties for not getting hurt for accidents or gift cards (if you did so many credit apps S2h). The only thing I cant think of is that they maybe cut payroll at times for some expenses (could be why the damn hours have gone so down).

Purchase your own battery and charger? You have got to be kidding and being sarcastic. It is a good joke though. Can you imagine if someone really believed it?

Can't you get any of these things through an asset transfer from a closing store?

Ebay! How would that go over with the DM that a store was buying things from Ebay? Could be an AP problem with it also. Can only buy from company authorized vendors.

Not sure about this specific model, but portable printers like stores use are pretty pricey. I just got some new ones at a different retailer last week, googled the model number and saw they cost like $750+ each. No excuse about those batteries, though!

Not in our store. We cant even buy ink for our printers (which we now get from Staples up the road). Nor can we buy papertowels (we take them off the shelf) hand soap (same) or toilet paper (same). Unless a store closes near by and they give us their extras we are out of luck.
