So does that mean they are doing away with the draw?
Talk about getting labor for free!
With fewer and fewer customers coming in the store doesn’t sound like you cd even break minimum wage

In my store there was one mattress person and two electronics people. Now all three are in mattresses and electronics and they also have to watch hardware since there are only two hardware associates. The appliance people are still just in appliances.
My store put the mattress people in appliances so now they do both. The appliance people stay in appliances unless there is no mattress coverage. The departments are next to each other so crossover makes sense. I am always surprised how these things are handled so differently in each store.
We do this now. I made $68k just selling mattresses last year, maybe another 20 from appliances. Straight commission is what you want, easy money.
We've had appliances and mattresses together for two years at my store. I think mattresses was separate from appliances the first six or eight months mattresses came to our store. After that, the mattress associates merged with appliances.
Quite frankly, mattresses pays a much better commission and you don't have to deal with hounding the customer for a PA. I stick around in the mattresses area as much as possible.
I heard same information from associate that works in the mattress department
So I assume the kicker here is the hours will go down? Basically have 2 or 3 associates (rather than 2 associates in mattresses and 3 or 4 in appliances) basically cutting pay roll. I don't know how this is going to work in my store since we have a lot of FT are they going to fire some?
Heard the same thing in our Sears store today from the mattress rep although she did say it isn't a done deal. She said Sears is still looking at it as a potential possibility.
Lots of stores converted to that model a while ago.
Where did you hear this? Ridiculous
