So many job postings...

Are those for real or just to keep up the appearances?

@TC1pKQr-7lut the 20% below market rates is for two reasons:

1) Management have been told that they have to save 14% on everything. I've seen them trying to renegotiate with all sorts of suppliers to this end (most tell them to f*** off to be fair)

2) If you advertise a "tech job" and it can't be filled (because nobody will work for the salary on offer) then in most countries you can import some foreign labour. Its a good game, because it means that those impossible to offshore roles can be offshored anyway. The poor imported labour then is indentured to the company, living and working in cr@p conditions and with a "loan" for their visa and accommodation repayable to the company if they leave before 3 years (sometimes 5). They of course just get the standard pay they'd have got in wherever they come from.

It doesn't do anyone any favours and I truly feel sorry for the poor guys and gals who get imported by these tech coyotes.

Not unique to DXC by a long way though - do you think Mikey has an original idea? Does he LOOK like he ever has an original idea?

If DXC paid market rates and stopped listening to the dic---ads at McKinsey then there would be more applicants forthcoming for DXC job adverts. Nothing surprises me for an employer that pays 20% below the market price and they wonder why no good quality (or no, nada, zip) applicants even apply.

Candidates who don't know a brand, like DXC, will conduct basic online research, by reading reviews of people who actually work there, such as glassdoor.com. This will show that a representative portion of DXC staff (3000) have very little confidence in their CEO and and overall negative experience.

Funnily enough, candidates who did apply to DXC (and leave an interview review) claim that the DXC HR person interviewing them claimed to have 'lost' their CV or didn't know what role the candidate was applying for! This immeditely rang alarm bells with some who declined an offer. Others found the interview process 'too easy' and had been offered the job, during the interview, without any real questioning, which again raised alarm bells, causing them to decline.

One tale - and there are lots of these for you to review - was a telephone interview that had been scheduled with a DXC manager. However, at the time of the interview a DXC co-worker rang to tell the candidate that the manager due to interview them was 'no longer with DXC' and a new date was scheduled. The candidate turned up at the office and was kept waiting for an hour [Why you wouldn't just walk out after 30 mins is a mystery to me, but anyway.) They eventually went home. DXC called at 9pm that nbight to apologise, yet insist on doing the interview then! The candidate said they were not interested.

I heard our local HR despairing over the lack of ANY candidates for the vacancies they advertised. They also asumed DXC’s name was the cause. (Meaning probably that people just don’t know what DXC is)

I am aware of a relatively high paying vacancy but nobody wants to work for a clusterf--k company like DXC. The particular account will be starved of applicants or will interview dunderheads that have no clue, Then the dunderhead will be hired!

People knew and respected the EDS and HP brands.

Nobody know or cares about the DXC brand, and they will always have trouble finding and retaining top talent. This is by Lawrie’s design BTW.

This is true, and was worth doing when we were part of HP/HPE - insiders knew HPES was being run into the ground, but it looked good on your CV for your next job...I don't see that happening with DXC brand.

I tried desparately to get my staff into some of these 'safer' jobs, but found that they either didn't have approved funding or that the current job sponsor was 'waiting to see what happens after the next round of WFR's' as if too scared to fill the position in case it was riffed!? I escalated concern over several 'open' vacancies that were not real to the senior levels and was ignored. Not even a 'we've noted your concern and are looking into it" -just ignored. The word soon spread that the jobs aren't woth applying for.

The other anomolyg I discovered is that elevated seniority and experience in the kob descriptions, when you inquired, had low salaries associated with them and often turned out to be junior or low-cost admin jobs, despite the grand titles. My younger staff were funding their own qualifications outside of work, as my attempts to support them were rejected. I advised some of them of competitor vacancies in their locations.

I left when I realised that despite my best attempts to help internal staff, there were too many 'blocks' every step of the way in DXC and it was clear to me that the DXC agenda was not to have these jobs open to existing DXC staff but to 'attract' outside young, cheap talent (often with little experience) who had a passion and eagerness to grow i.e. develop those who didn't expect any real training. There are many people who grab the chance of putting an IT company on their resume and gain some experience even in DXC.

So I would say don't read too much into those jobs.

When someone I knew left, there was a job vacancy created. The exiting employee was > 55. The vacancy wanted someone with 10 years of C experience + java + PLC programming for a specific industry . How they filled the vacancy was with a young worker from India. Since no one in the US could meet the required experience, they were able to fill it with a L1 visa worker to come to US for minimal $$$. It really was a creative way to take an onshore job and pay lower wages.

If DXC is doing job code merging between CSC and HPE I would expect there are fake job postings to have people apply for their own jobs. That is what CSC did in the past when doing job recoding.

As far as I am aware, all 3938 DXC vacancies on the career page are generated by a spambot, that takes 1 word from 4 arrays to create "Vacancies"

1- Chief, Senior, Advisory, Professional, Principal, Client, Tier 1, Clinical, Account, Graduate

2- Offering Sales, Conversion, Systems, Service, Software, Technical, Product, IT, SAP, Agile, Bionics, Unix, Linux, Java, Wintel, platform, Desktop, database, Security, Operations, Build & Reelease,testing
