Christmas time is gonna be a nail biter.
Podcast was very interesting and had a lot of insight on how company was hurt by Amazon, but really helped destroy itself.
Recall how when I was hired 21 years ago the manager wanted to know what you read, your interests and put you in those sections and this aided customers and sales. Before I was laid off, I just noticed that they just hired anyone as a 'body' to get in there and work. No more leads of sections ... and most of the people I worked with at the end didn't read much. They'd ask at morning meetings "what are you reading?" No answers, just giggling. Plus, I never saw any of the managers buy a book. Geez, most didn't even have a member card.
Those of use that did have any knowledge of books were laid off las February.
Also, the part of podcast that mentions that the stores are just libraries with coffee shops is spot on. My store was just a place for the same people every day to hang out and do work on their lap tops or sleep in the chairs.
Doesn't sound good.
