Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Where are we with layoffs?

Should I take it as a good thing that there has been very little chatter about actual layoffs at Follett? Does that mean that we might be safe at least for a little while?

Or am I missing something?

To be honest, some time with less stress and anxiety is exactly what I could use right now.

"Millions of $$ are being wasted to keep up with 8 floors of empty space"? Many new employees start every week at the HO. Space is now in short supply.

The Westchester lease runs through 2024 so they can’t close that down yet.

Well about 100 people will be laid off by the end of the year with the closing of the Aurora Distribution Center, so don’t think I’m any possible way, that anyone’s job is safe. They should be closing down the Westchester Offices and relocate those offices elsewhere to something cheaper. Millions of $$ are being wasted to keep up with 8 floors of empty space

Look at region 41. Where did the RM go? Definitely not safe.

Baker and Taylor has tanked Follett

Funds are given left and right to them

The ones located in Westchester have never worked an 8 hour/40 hour ever

But how much gave they brought in??

I'm sorry, this is a stupid question! You're never safe at follet. With the economy at near full employment, why are you working at this stain for a company? You will be run out. You will be laid off. You will be fired. There is a predictable intersection of your pay/benefits v hiring a less skilled part time employee with no benefiits. That's how this dung show works.

There have been few if any layoffs in a bit. Does that mean you're safe? You're as a safe as a goat in a lion's cage before the lion arrives.

Baker & Taylor is slowing down a lot. Departments going home early every day.

I can think of many other ways to cut other than store associates.

How about fewer V.O positions?

Sales continue to decline across all Follett divisions. Difficult to have the same bottom line and family dividend without some kind of cost reductions. If Follett fails to grow the top line, expense reductions will continue. That said, management realizes that the last 6 years have been hell for employees and would like to avoid any additional reductions for as long as possible.
