Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Are we really closing in on our competition?

Anybody actually buying this?

The reason for the layoffs each quarter is simple - 'Savings' in the retirement plan. This element of the quarterly non-GAAP earnings number is considerable. It is now structurally part of the earnings. If you stopped the layoffs you would change the reported non-GAAP number by a large percentage. Thus a minimum number of layoffs is needed each quarter. There appears to be no exit to this treadmill.

If this were true then why is it that nobody has seen a decent pay increase in years and why do they keep laying people off each qtr?

Anyone who buys that BS is beyond stupid.

No. Even if IBM produced a better product they would be Betamax to VHS. The same customer references are being used, over and over again. The morale is at an all time low. No one wants to think that the Cloud product needs improving. The only target is to get more signups each month. No collaboration with clients and certainly not listening to feedback.
