Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Are layoffs behind us?

Considering that our stock keeps growing and a number of analysts saying that we are "crushing it" this year, that we managed to fend off some attempts at market share takeover (Qualcomm, AMD,) and that we are venturing into some new and potential lucrative fields, what are the chances that this could mean fewer if any layoffs in the foreseeable future?

I mean, what would be an excuse this time? We are doing great, here are some layoffs as a reward?

From the language used by @3lid, not sure he/she is from HR, but certainly is a complete idiot and troll.

Who cares if Intel gives two chits about this board?! However, to folks such as @3lid, if you are not a troll, it is a shame to post something with COMPLETE nonsense like "there was no ranking, but the normal Focal process". I know quite some people at Intel who always speak out with point 1,2 3, 4 ... in any meeting they go, with NO idea what they are talking about, another game at Intel, say something, make noise, for the sake of visibility and "influence", so annoying!

@3lid is the Dunning-Kruger troll, an awful POS paid by HR to post bs and pro-Intel propaganda on these boards.

@3lid. Your claim that Focal process has no ranking is also "nonsense comes straight from some mentally handicapped dork‘s fantasy world."

@3lid. The Focal system itself is a ranking process. SSL1 to SSL5 are ranks. It has been known since 2015 that SSL4 and SSL5 would lead to lay-offs.

@3dgg That is completely retarded conspiracy theory b---s---. First of all, there was no ranking, but the normal Focal process. Second, when the Focal was done that year, managers did not know that the ratings would lead to layoffs. Third, that whole „managers lay off people they are threatened by“ is the most idiotic nonsense, and it is made up by people who got layed off and who want to beloeve they got kicked out for being too good. How exactly does a good team member threaten their manager? You think managers get regularly replaced by good team members only to be kicked out themselves afterwards? That nonsense comes straight from some mentally handicapped dork‘s fantasy world.

@2mep. The issue was that HR needed to find a certain number of people to lay-off. HR forced the managers to rank their engineers. Many managers would then find some engineers they didn't like, or perceived as threats, to be fired. This led to the brown-nosing culture at Intel. The FOCAL system is broken.

@2sha Respect?!?

I remember what HR in Germany did to get around the difficulty of laying off people there. They forced managers to give their team members CAPs with unachievable goals. The messages sent by HR to the managers included fixed dates when the manager would have to conclude that the team member has failed the CAP. This would then result in the team member being fired.

Unethical? Yep! Illegal? Yep! Respectful? Hell no!

And let‘s remember two things: The HR people who initiated this are still with Intel. And most of the managers who executed these plans are also still with Intel. That is the true Intel culture, no matter how many tears BK claims to have shed.

@1xrt. I remember BK's exact words during the ACT announcement ... he said the folks who are going to be impacted will be treated with respect ... and yes, he did mention the crying thingy as well .. what a ...

Look around and see how many have left. No doubt a lot have done well and have gone onto better things with some dollars in their back pocket. Others have struggled I know too. So you have to look at yourself and figure what are you going to do when it’s your time to leave. Not too many make 15 years service. Less make 20. Thirty is almost unachieveable. So make sure you use your time at INTC wisely so you can move on when the day comes.

To what qur mentioned I would like to add that ACT was done in 2016 because that kind of change has to be done when you are in good shape, according to BK's keynote announcing it.

BK's exact words I cannot recall, but there are records of that statement being done during the ACT announcement.

BK also said that he cried thinking that some parents from the school were his children attend could be targeted, implying that either he had no agency or the targeting was discretionary.

@1opw don't you worry, BK has figured out all the middle management junk will be turned to gold using a one week training program!!! 😂😂

As long as there are managers who are out 'empire building', risk of layoffs is ever present. ACT and other layoffs didn't impact such managers. They are lying low at the moment and will go after their merry ways whenever hiring is relaxed. Middle management is the bane if Intel and HR bears full responsibility for this situation with middle management full of useless junk.

The reason for ACT was neither a low stock price nor low profits. So yes, layoffs can still occur at any time.

Did you forget that in December 2015 BK went on record announcing best quarter results ever? Four months later company announced layoff of 12K employees. Employees will never be "safe". Need to keep your guard up.
