Thread regarding Sears layoffs

run, run away from Sears as fast as you can. Spend your valuable time looking for a new position.

They barely have enough money to even keep the lights on or operate their stores. You think they have the means to remodel the stores?

"You will see your Q.M.T. more often along with contractors." That is funny. I used to be a QMT. Two years ago myself and a lot of other QMT's jobs were eliminated. I was let go on a conference call with my boss and someone with HR in New Jersey. I know for a fact that a lot of other QMT's have quit and they were not replaced. As someone else (1gyq) posted they had us fix up stores right before they were sold.

No additional store remodels for Kmart on the horizon, the return on investment os not there, even the top 50... which is now 1/6th of the chain.

Clean and bright was a corprate plan that was largely unable to be executed because lack of resources. Lest we buy flooring new flooring, shelving, carts; iy doesnt work like that.

QMTs are taxed as it is, remeber they have to service the vacant Sears properties that fail to lease or sell. And considering the work thwy do, aurprised they arent sickly. Asbestos exposure up the a--, but that goes for everyone in store.

I'll believe it when I see it. Will we also be getting new, desirable merchandise, instead if the cheap knock-off crap and whatever comes from closing DCs and stores?

And lastly, will we get raises? Those have been deferred for years as well.

Sounds like to me that the store is being remodeled so it can be sold or leased out at a higher rental price!! I wonder if this might be one of the Seritage "owned" stores?!

Thanks for the update!! So excited!! I knew there was a plan! Sears Holdings is a very smart company to right size the store base before upgrading the best of the best stores. So exciting to finally see Kmart and Sears powering ahead!
