I see a lot of speculation and rumors, but there has been no actual announcement or anything that could confirm it officially from what I can see.
So why is everybody so convinced a major round of layoffs is happening any time soon? What am I missing here?

Well gosh darn. Me and my sister got us some new teeth. That fella in Conway gave us a good deal before we get our pink slips. Glad me and the mrs can get er done cuz we still going out fishin wink wink at lunch
I thought for sure I was going to be laid off. Nothing happened. This is going to be a great weekend. My wife’s boyfriend has given me permission to buy another pair of fancy Japanese denim bedazzled jeans I that I can wear on my Fridays at the office. I get back swindling vendors into providing me with free vacations , so excited guys!
Whew so glad the 520 did not happen. I believe our CEO when he said 2 years ago this would not happen again. Guess I will bring back my personal stuff to the office. This will be my home for years thanks to the leadership of our CEO! But can I still take off early today?!
Me and my millennial buddies are down here in the market talking about this whole situation. We counted the same number of friends that we did yesterday. Can’t believe it. We were counting on 520 of us starting summer vacation a bit early! But here we are, counting our lucky stars that we’re here, in the Market having a duck infused roasted tomato omelette before we get to work for this great company going great places! We even saw the Joker on 6 with a smile on his face! It’s a great day to be a “SWN’er”.

Consultants - lay offs
Reviewing strategic options for an asset- sell asset and layoffs
Maybe others can add; and not all COrporate code is about layoffs . All this chatter is telling you there will be change and layoffs ( and early retirements maybe) . It’s intentional and I believe not a bad thing ; it allows a veneer of business as usual but suggesting you prepare and don’t be surprised
I’m not sure they can legally come out and say we are going to have layoffs etc. even if they can, they shouldn’t .
I should also say in addition to a question about howbCEO Is perceived by industry. Swn is viewed as being over staffed for activity and size .. for what’s that worth

This kind of thinking is why we are in this mess to begin with. From the top down we chose to ignore the facts and believe our own narratives instead of being objective. Sometimes you are dealt a bad hand, but rather than deal with it we choose to pretend we have great cards.
