Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

That is how Intel get rid of experienced people (2016 October)

My co-worker asked me. Did you leave intel ?

I did not leave. "They" (RELEASES) wanted me to leave. I did not expect it would happen to me while seeing many people around me were doing nothing but fooling around. I've worked very hard the last few months working from home long hours after 5pm, including 4 last weekends finishing on the new Softwood tool and enjoying the work, refactoring the Softwood tool left and right from C to C++. I've succeeded in that most challenging task I've ever had passing all NGC ( New Generation Core) tests for Softwood. I believe, I spooked many people while accomplishing that mission impossible task, so "they" decided to get rid of me, frightening I can replace them or bump into the them. Interestingly, all Transmeta tools ( Softwood, Cactus, Nexus, Dart - high complexity tools ) went to just a one new owner, resent RCG (H1B). Good luck for him.

After four years of preparation and debate the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was finally approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. Enforcement date: 25 May 2018 - at which time those organizations in non-compliance may face heavy fines. Now, your name, address, phone, age, income, history of your shopping, education, job search, etc. is known by Google, Microsoft, Facebook and other multinational thieves. I'm a women and do not want to disclose my age, but unfortunately, Intel and other companies layoffs people 50+ and my age can easily be found on the internet.

You are fools if you don't step back and think about it. It's all a game. If you don't play it and believe your work is enough then be prepared to be screwed by those playing the game (by the way that's all they do is play the game.. because they can't do anything else).. Intel has made incredibly bad business decisions over the years.. but it's so big it moves forward. The idiots are playing the game.. so play it with them.. play it better...

Nothing that Bain consultants, H1Bs and RCGs can't fix!

@enr Actually Intel has proven that people are irreplaceable. Or do you believe that it's coincidence that Intel mfg has fallen behind Moore's law AND behind TSMC immediately after consecutive years of laying off older experienced workers? Just a coincidence, right! Lol!

I don‘t miss any of the people who got kicked out during ACT. Sure, some of them thought they were sooo great, when in fact they were terrible. Main reason why they got fired.

@T3nGlXw-enr Indeed, no one is irreplaceable at Intel. However, with so many experienced people left Intel in the past couple of years, the quality of work/services really suffers, not even mention the low morale across the board.

Interestingly, during the exit interview with fired ARM employees, the ARM Director of Human Resources HR, Gail Shish, suggested to all exited employees to sell ARM shares, siting the Microsoft deal with ARM, saying that the price of ARM shares is on the top. At that time, shares of ARM were $6 dollars per share. But, when the Softbank bought ARM, the share price was $66 dollars per share. You get the clue?

Never forget that first round of layoffs at ARM in January 2008. 25 good people were escorted out. 25 of them were women of 50+ age old. At the next company meeting they said that the 2008 year would be the year of Execution, presenting employees the Big screen, showing the Medieval execution with the canvas on the executed people. That is when I understood, it would be more layoffs. That was very scare but that is all British is all about. My turn came in July 28, 2009. Now, you understand why the Softbank bought that bloody company to cover all their genocide.

@1cyn Cool story bro.

Nice to see how so many people manage to flee from the harsh reality into a self-constructed fantasy world.

Been there. Accomplished impressive tasks but got sold out at focal twice. I was like op wanted to see intel sinking when I left. But now I appreciate that experience - my comp is doubled as a top engineer in fang.

You accomplished mission impossible task which also possible makes you as a blocker for someone get promoted especially to PE. You must be out of the way, you didn't handle it right tells that you are a low skill employee for Intel.

Funny how all those people who were laid off thought they were irreplaceable when Intel has proven exactly the opposite.

Silly you with your head down actually doing hard work when others were presenting Powerpoints claiming credit for what you did.
