Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Class if 2018 makes more than FHEG managers

I was listening to CBS radio this morning, and there was a report that the average starting salary for new college graduates is in the ballpark of $57,000.

So basically Follett is saying to you that they value your decades of hard work and experience less than the majority of companies value brand new college grads with little to no experience.

Congratulations Follett... You are officially the worst company in America.

In places like Seattle and New York City, I think minimum wage is $15 per hour. Which essentially means you can flip burgers at McDonald's and make as much money as most Course Materials Managers.

Textbook retail is NOT the place to be, dying business, too many demands put on SM, especially when they are SM AND CT manager. Just waiting to retire.

I know a guy that just got a job as a file clerk for a real estate company. Starting salary $60k. He'll be doing a fraction of the work of an SM. I also know a secretary for a law firm - not a paralegal but a secretary - making $85k. 9 to 5 job.

at follett, your salary and your benefits are liabilities divorced from your contribution. If they can save 5% of you salary and eliminate your benefits, they'll show you the door in a heart beat. They're hearless ogres.
