If I needed a job and it was the only company that offered, of course I would take it. You can look while working. If I already had a job and one was offered from Windstream, probably not unless the one I already had was worse.
I worked for this company close to 30 years, at the beginning of my career I would have said yes..however for the last 5 to 6 years it’s has become extremely stressful...lace of direction and the current management is in such a self preservation mode that their employees have been shoved to the way side. Lack of direction along with constant chaos and confusion, I would highly recommend people to look elsewhere...this is NOT a desirable company to work for, our CEO, TT does not have any respect for his employees...I would rather take a cut in pay and work for a company who values their employee than work for someone who does not value their employees...suggestion seek employment elsewhere!
The only beneficial thing about Windstream is that they don't vet the back ground checks.
Windstream will hire the crap out of some felons. Poke around, you'll find them.
So if you lied on that section that said "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?",don't worry, it's like you never were convicted of one. You're good, in fact you're gucci.
No way! Toxic environment..........
No, horrible place.
Depends on what you want to do. If you are technical learn SIP, hosted , SDWAN, or other in demand technologies. If you were offered a job to test or install POTS lines or DSL I would pass it up. Along the lines of what others have posted alot of people are on edge not knowing if they will have a job in 6 months. Depending on the offer and your age take the job as a stepping stone and not a career or a place you will retire from. Most of the network along with their employees will be gone in the next 5 years. Kind of s---s working in technology when everything is constantly changing and you are offered no training to grow.
Windstream is in trouble and is struggling. There's no question of that. A lot of people are scared right now because nobody knows if they will be on the next layoff list or if the company will eventually fail all together.
All I know is that there are a lot of people that were planning on retiring from the company that have worked here 30+ years who ended up getting laid off. The problem is that a lot of them have a skill set that isn't in demand anymore. They couldn't have predicted 30 years ago that Windstream would be in this position or that there wouldn't be a demand for the expertise.
What I see is that Windstream heading in a direction where they are going to reduce their headcount, regardless if they are successful or not. Windstream isn't the only one in this boat. A lot of similar companies are going in the same general direction. Reduce the headcount as much as possible.
No. I have been offered a job as Windstream, but the more I read about Windstream, I decided to go take an offer elsewhere. My opinion was not based off this site because of the obvious disgruntled employees and ex-Windstream personal postings. My decision was based on unusual business practices that are available to the public on financial forms. Things seemed off.
I have heard people say that is a "toxic" place to work. However, I have heard an equal amount with long tenure say it is a great place to work.
This must be a joke right?
