Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Closings

April fools or not, grapevine today has closures being announced this week. A joint list of Sears and Kmarts..Not going to be a small one. Kmart supposedly posted a good 4th quarter but don't matter. Time to jump off this sinking ship unless you want to drown.

Bloodbath is coming, expect about 95-100 closures, mostly Kmart and a lot of stores in PA OH and NJ closing, DMs are making rounds and announcement will probably come Thursday. They’re waiting for he current liquidation to conclude before starting another one. For the past 18 months there hasn’t been a week without a group of stores liquidating.

@StfclK2-1gwu Talk about celebrating 4th quarter profits haha

My SM was bragging that Sears overcame the odds this 4th quarter with a bunch of store closures coming right up. Its funny because the only reason we did supposedly good is lots of properties that sold and the whole tax changes Trump did. Other than that more closings coming right up to assume we are profitable and we will overcome the odds lol...

Most Kmarts in the northeast or Mid-atlantic. Regional taking a tour this week to announce or preparing to announce.

Pretty telling that they announce and celebrate a profit in 4Q and then close more stores. What you do does not matter, SHC is dead and gone.

@StfclK2-exd Thanks for the number man its quiete a number I think they must of started already since their was another post of their Kmart closing so the batch is coming.

@StfclK2-zda Thats just disgusting I mean especially if you been on the company for so long for them to do that just tells you how toxic management is. In my store our SM creates so much negative environment. No one is motivated because their is nothing to be motivated. Hours have been cut so bad ever since this new changes came along.

Also since you mentioned Easter what a waste of time to open vs last year we just made half of last year. Just tells you what a waste it is to be opened on Easter just plain desperate.

Easter many years back (2013-ish) I has requested it off as all family was having a dinner that night. Request was never approved or denied, I would have been fine with opening as I could still have made it to the dinner. I got scheduled closing that day. Much like the poster above, we were the only thing open in the mall and it was dead, even back then. Who thinks I want to go to Sears on Easter Sunday??? Perhaps it was a boil over finally, but this was the final straw, I walked in and told management I quit, to send me my last check and I'm leaving now to head to Easter dinner with my family.

None the less that store just closed as part of the last batch of closings in March 2018 and I'm not surprised there's another round of closures coming. I have a feeling of what stores will be on this list near me as they are stores that it seems they don't want (which is almost all of them at this point but anyways) but are hanging onto them until they can get out of the leases they are in or have a buyer for the site, especially the remaining Kmart's here, they are on good sized prime parcels of land that are vastly underutilized (and most cities know the writing is on the wall with Kmart and is looking at how to best re purpose their sites when they pack up shop)

There will be around 70 Kmart and 40 Sears stores closing, to be announced within two weeks.

Are you at work today? On Easter Sunday Sears is the ONLY store open in our mall. This means no piggy backing on the mall's temperature control as we usually do, no food court and really nothing except Sears & more Sears. Few customers though because even if this were Sears' heyday people are home or with family for the holiday.
