Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Any cuts in Canada?

In my business unit in Canada, q2c operations, we were told that enough people took the path to retirement voluntary package so that there wouldn't be cuts, however had that not been the case, there would have been. So far here and at watching IBM Facebook page there have been numerous reports of US cuts and some in the UK and Netherlands. Please report here if you have any information about Canada layoffs or even other geographies. Thank you for sharing your info.

TSS Canada remote storage support team - 7 RAs which is roughly half the team. The folks hit by the RAs will be kept on if they can find another job in IBM within 90 days, outside TSS.

I understand that the Canada Path to Retirement program was offered to employees 55 years old and older with at least five years at IBM, or employees with at least 30 years at IBM. The offer was for 3 months of severance pay, and leading up to that, employment for 3 months working 3 days a week but being paid for 4 days a week.

As it is retirement I expect health benefits would apply but I don't have any details - can someone provide the health benefit details for the p2r program?

In another post someone who was at the management briefing said that in addition to the layoffs last Thursday, there would be another round in a week and a half. I remember that in early 2017, they completed a massive layoffs in the US and we were told that the Canada layoffs would come a few weeks after, but apparently those were cancelled due to a combination of the suicide at 3600 Steeles and also lack of budget as for the first time IBM Canada was supposed to pay for the Canadian layoffs instead of IBM corporate. Long story short, perhaps we haven't heard of any Canada layoffs yet because they are still to come, in the next round.

What about service, US field network along with parts distribution ? These sites had many hits the last few years. Down to a hand full of folks. Managers in charge had not a clue how to run the show. More managers than worker bees. I think they are nervous too for their jobs.
