We had 3 people at Glendale going into retirement get a party yesterday . That's all good. I wonder when we had those who we knew were close to retirement take the VREF just disappear. Seems they got no respect.

At HI the only respect you should plan on is self-respect. Only your boss and maybe a few close friends will have any clue about your contributions. To the higher ups, you are a liability or a problem; to the others you’re just another drone. Sadly, retirement parties are just an excuse to not work and have some cake (probably paid for by your boss instead of the company because they can’t afford it).
I have more respect for the ones who work a VRIF and retire or move to a better job than the ones who leave their crappy jobs with money on the table.
Yes, you work for decades with some expectation of how your career might end and you go out with a fizzle instead of a bang. It all fits in with the new Honeywell corporate ethic. People are a business commodity and your years of loyalty aren't worth a bucket of warm spit.
We didn’t get respect and was told all communication would cease in two hours from my telecom. After 37 years the last year working remote, I crafted an email saying good bye. Went to Fed Ex sent back my badge and computer.
Not the way I thought I’d retire but so what I’m gone.
