Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

G7. Got EE with just 3% and SL2. No promotion.

EE with only 3% and no grade change. Such a waste for EE. WTF. It's like saying you did great and are an invaluable asset but go and fuc* youself anyways.

A software engineer been promoted to PE, who never wrote a piece of code for 10+ year. Make others wasting so much time on useless tasks. I can do a better job than he does (G7). Have to admit his political skill is outstanding, a good friend of the director.

@2fld meeting the conditions discussed for promo was what happened the last 4 times I got promoted... So if you can't do it then why don't you leave instead?

Promo mostly depends on where you are on pay range. I was in 75% in g7 for many years and got nothing. Once I got to g8, promo within 2 yrs.

nope, promo cannot come with the lateral move, only afterwards.

Does anyone know if a lateral move can result in a promotion outside of focal

@SqtCrD4-1cqz Is right and you might be at the top of your payscale. This is a normal procedure for the manager to get a bigger chunk using your EE and redistributing it to someone who probably is paid below his value. Happens all the time. if you get one more EE you would be promoted and it might probably average out in an years time. If your perspective is 2 years and you think you are heading for a promotion next year ( given your manager stays, group survives, planets align right etc..) it might be worth the wait. Else do keep your eyes open...You should definitely talk to your manager to see if you are heading for a promo...Good luck

2nfq you’re not drinking enough of the koolaid

Have a discussion on expectations with your manager... if SHE doesn’t look you in the eye.. time to look elsewhere.

Have a conversation with your manager about your expectations and what it takes to get that promotion.

If he doesn't give you a straight answer then it's time to look elsewhere.

that's the old intel. new intel, 33 ee/o in a row, plus you have to make a sacrifice to some hindu deity.

You definitely don't need 2 consecutive EE/O to get promo'd. I've gotten Successful then Outstanding twice, and I got promo'd both times.

If you were only successful at last focal you won’t get a promo. You need an outstanding and Exceeds consecutively as a minimum

The increase at 3% was rough though. Maybe time to look outside the window.

@nef: I was at 32 percentile before focal. I got 12k in stocks.

It is possible that your boss used the budget he got for your EE for other people. I‘ve had to do this quite a few times, because the flucking budget we get from HR often doesn‘t make any sense.

That was several years ago but I was below the midpoint for G7. I did get around 1000 shares of L1 stock when the price was in the low 20s; that appreciated very nicely.

What is your base salary now? Maybe you're at the top of the range?

In general, to get promo you'd want 2 EE's or O's in the past 3 years at that grade (or just 2 in a row if you can pull that off). So if this is your first EE at G7, or it's been a while since you got EE/O then a promo is not likely.

I also learned that there are now ranges for each SSL, so perhaps you got the high end of the range to compensate. What was your expected stock amount? G7 SSL2 range is $11.5K to 15.5K.

I got 2.4% with an EE once, welcome to the club. They justify this by saying you’re at some quartile or whatever. Intel pay is below industry norms, no matter which way you look at it.
