Ranking/Rating Reps- Change is a comin'

I can't believe DMs have been asked to "rank/rate" their reps and ranking who is the most adaptable to change. My DM is horrible and apparently she is in charge of my future at this company?! I hope her boss is ranking her...at the bottom.

Writing is on the wall. Bye bye softside.

Ummm that is not true. I am a DM and I did have to rank my reps, and my RM had to rank all of their DMs, LTSs etc.

There is no truth to this post. We were not asked to rank based on your statements at all. This was all done without manager's input and behind our back. It was thoughtless and hurtful to those with excellent track records.

That's not what we are talking about- I guess this went over your head.

MANAGERS are ranking reps to decide who to LAY OFF based on strengths and adaptability. This isn't something reps are doing- we don't sit around ranking ourselves. The person that said some techie is trying to change things up is talking about the guy leading the US division that came from a technology company- which ranked their sales reps to decide who to keep or let go.

And don't worry- we don't sit around concerning ourselves with techies either. We try to sell the crap product you've made.

I'm a techie in stodgy print publishing. We don't concern ourselves with how sales reps rank each other.

Ranking comes from the software world if I remember correctly. Guessing some techies are trying to change things up in stodgy print publishing. Of course ranking was very controversial at places like Microsoft.

I heard that Cengage is planning on buying Pearson out next year. With the new program they have we at Pearson do not stand a chance. Might as well jump ship before that time comes. This is the second round of huge layoffs and I doubt many will be left for the third round.

I don't expect Pearson to change. Managers will rank their "friends" higher versus true performers (who probably intimidate said managers). Making Pearson ever weaker.

I believe it will happen in April. It will be massive, quick and brutal.

I loved this company and have sacrificed so much to stay for a culture that’s no longer.

So many views on this post. Let’s band together and share information!
