Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Juniper will not survive 2019

Highly unlikely that Juniper will survive till 2019. Founder member and CTO PS quit over 1 year back to create Fungible. Consecutive quarterly hits are going on for at last 6 quarters if not more. In EMEA the new boss selected last July is clear indication of what's coming: in his previous he fired everyone at Brocade in EMEA before Brocade got split up and sold as junk.

On top add random promotions of inexperienced people to management positions, nepotism, pushing out dedicated high-performers, stiff competition from Cisco and Arista in Enterprise and DC, malfunctioning Contrail BU which is s---ing out funds but not generating ANY business, lost customer confidence in Security solutions ....the list goes on. There are a number of people higher up hanging around for stock options, some so-call managers and Sr. Mnagares kissing a$$es and fudging numbers hoping to get a grade up. Upper management knows everything but does nothing to fix it. Why?!

Because they no know this boat is going down. No point in fixing it.

The braindrain/experience drain of real talent is absolutely evident. No doubt.

Theoretically, it already has and will have an Exponential effect of being able to push the ball forward to at the very least stay competitive. Just staying afloat in this market will be a good challenge (think Arista as one of many eating your lunch and then punching you in the face and taking your Air Jordans before they leave).

Forget about re-invention type of innovation at this point as the horses aren't even there any more to properly execute.

Looks like this website cut the posting article in half.

At least you have the link in the prior post to get the idea.

Article 1 in prior post got chopped up:

ARTICLE 1 (https://investorplace.com/2019/01/morgan-stanley-7-risky-stocks-to-sell-now):

"Morgan Stanley says “sell” networking and cybersecurity stock Juniper Networks (NYSE:JNPR). The firm isn’t alone in its bearish take on this stock. Goldman Sachs’ Rod Hall (Track Record Koontz for 10%. That’s with shares already down 2% on a three-month basis. Not that JNPR doesn’t have its supporters. Four analysts still rate the stock a “buy.” Hence its “hold” Street consensus. "

Two recent articles:

ARTICLE 1 (http://example.com/2ABmGji):

"Morgan Stanley says “sell” networking and cybersecurity stock Juniper Networks (NYSE:JNPR). The firm isn’t alone in its bearish take on this stock. Goldman Sachs’ Rod Hall (Track Record Koontz for 10%. That’s with shares already down 2% on a three-month basis. Not that JNPR doesn’t have its supporters. ....and then this Article from SeekingAlpha (https://seekingalpha.com/article/4232135-cisco-gaining-traction):

"COMPETITION IS INTENSE IN NETWORKING :

....Of concern is increasing competition for the company. Arista Networks (ANET) is a much smaller networking company compared to Cisco in context of market cap and revenue but is growing revenue much faster at a double-digit rate. But from the perspective of a dividend growth investor, Arista Networks does not yet pay a dividend. Juniper Networks (JNPR) is also a major competitor but it too is a much smaller company in context of market cap and revenue. But Juniper Networks has had DIFFICULTY generating consistent ORGANIC revenue GROWTH on YoY basis and LOWERED guidance for the next quarter. Cisco also faces increasing competition from the Chinese networking company Huawei and reportedly Amazon (AMZN) wants to sell networking switches."

Powerhouse, my a$$!

Juniper did make it to 2019, but it is a zombie tech company running on fumes now. There is no merger or acquisition that will bail out juniper. Juniper is done! Stick a fork in it.

You wouldn’t believe all the talent that is gone. Place is rotting.

Juniper (JNPR) is doing great again. Kudos to Rami and the exec team for their hard work and making juniper great.

The acquisition of HTBase is really smart and this product with Contrail will turn Juniper into a powerhouse, and all the big cloud players AWS, Google Cloud and Azure, will want to work closely with Juniper to make sure they don't get shut out. Way to go JNPR! Way to go!

2019 is almost here... Will the acquisitions give new life to JNPR beyond 2019?

No one will by a sc-ap heap like Juniper. Maybe Google will buy it for the land in Sunnyvale.

Who's going to acquire Juniper? Nokia was a possibility as they are known for buying scrap companies but they went away.

One look at Juniper's culture will have Mussolini run for the hills. In EMEA the Management decided to promote people with 0 management experience from a sh!t-kicker to a Sr. Manager. Why you ask? Who knows?! These people do not know how to manage, how to communicate, suffer from their own insecurity and complex and mess up other professionals who are focused on delivering. Politics is the way for Juniper. You think Sunnyvale is bad? Come work in EMEA for a bit and interact with some colossal waste of space who refer to themselves as "leaders". You will need to carry a bucket because you WILL throw up!

This boat cannot sustain floating conditions for much longer and the fault lies with the management who does not seem to give a hoot for the company. They are too busy playing their political bingo and saving their own skin. Some people I met during my relatively short period in EMEA, won't be qualified to sell potatoes in a Shanghai street-market. What are they doing being hired and lo-and-behold being promoted at a so-called top-notch Tech giant at Silicon Valley?! Beats the hell out of me!

Juniper is on the market and up for grabs , by 2019 it will be acquired or go private . By its own it won’t be able to survive

Agree. I lasted about 2 years 10 months. First couple of years were amazing. I worked with energy, had a great boss who encouraged growth. All of a sudden I had an inexperienced man-manager promoted solely because he had been doing nothing at Juniper for over 9 years except hanging on from coat tails of the VP. The guy started off by lying., bullying, threatening to put names on a "list", fudging numbers.

I tolerated for a few months then my professional self-respect got in the way, handed in my notice for a far better place. If you are like me, not a career Juniper (should have said Junker) person, then look for a better place now while the industry is still positive and official recession has not set in. Anybody who was any good at Juniper, including the founder member ex-CTO PS have left the company. Upper management is hanging around either for stock options payoff if and when JNPR gets sold or a golden parachute in case they get kicked out. Other than that anyone who is there for 5+ years simply have nowhere else to go, lost their drive & skill sets, not good enough to find a good opportunity, kissing a$$ and hanging around for a paycheck.

Leave the swamp and grow your career. Lots of great places to work out there. Best wishes!
