I worked at Q in Santa Clara myself after graduating from a top school, but left after 11 months to work at Airbnb. Many of the new grads who came to Q around the same time as I did either have left already or are doing coding interview preps everyday.
Reason? The pay.
My pay at Airbnb is like 400% of what I got at Q, if you count the bonus and RSUs. Even the base salary is 2X. Same is true for Google, Facebook, etc, or any other leading software company. I came to Q because I didn't know about what the salaries are like in other companies, but once I knew, I left within 2 months. I suggest all of you who can code to leave for software companies immediately, even if you don't get laid off this time. You'll get at least 2.5X better pay, free food, great perks, etc.
