Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

What strategy.....???

So the CEO has said publically that he would have not done the COP deal, and yet his SVP of Strategy, who was a major part of the driving the deal, still remains firmly in his seat. Sure BF and IR are being sent to pasture, but shouldn't the guy who was driving the bus also be heading for the farm? Seems like the company is run by him and HR. Why do we even need an executive team when strategy seems to be running the show? Stock prices in half and I bet he even got a bonus......And you wonder why the organization isn't happy and cheerful. Yes, you reduced staff, but leaving the ones who had a major part in the crash of CVE in their roles just makes a fool out of the boys upstairs, and destroys their credibility.

What exactly has the new guy done in 6 months? Seriously, what has he done? He can talk to media and shareholders about thinning out the org structure but that’s like cooking fish sticks. Low hanging fruit. Other new executives actually change the company culture by making meaningful change in leadership and strategy. Nothing, absolutely nothing to see here. Same approach, same bad actors focussed on their own turf and agendas.

Cause the svp is only good at s---ing up to the higher ups. He threw his boss under the boss just so he could show Alex that he had nothing to do with the deal.

Of course he got a bonus and unquestionably a hefty raise at that based on his meteoric rise within the company. How could head of investor relations and business development be so out of sync with the market to have greenlighted the deal? So the question that should be asked is why did he get a promo to SVP while 700 employees in turn get shown the door??????
