I really wish people would lower their expectations for events like today's. How many posts did we have here asking what's going on, did they say this, did they say that...
Haven't you learned by now that if something is going to become known, chances are much bigger you'll find out through unofficial channels? The higher ups will come up with a spin after the fact, but they will never volunteer information if they don't have to.
Just my two cents.
The layoffs are actually going to happen and this one is going to be larger than 2015. The target is mainly positions with titles of Sr. Staff and higher. The simple fact is that the company is far too loaded with more Directors and Sr. Directors than there needs to be. Please be patient, it will happen as those salaries should work well to hit that Billion savings goal.

If I'm gunna be serious rn. It's because there are no major layoffs that are gonna happen and this forum is just riding off the hype train that caused from the BDC Qcom merger. Sure, some people might get layed off here and there, and there might be a voluntary reduction in force. But it wont be anything like the 2015 layoff. We're not gunna see remote sites lose 50% of their workforce.
It's true there is little job postings for remote sites (I work at one) but we're still hiring. People are still starting every two weeks or so.
This is mainly because Qcomms two greatest assets are its employees and its patents (IP).
We're not going to see a major layoff until something catastrophic happens happens with NXP or the Apple lawsuit. And then it's going to probably be 6-12 months out.
90% of the people in this forum are here to stir up fear and troll. There was like 5 posts that said "JUST WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS THIS FRIDAY OMGGGGGGGGG!!!" And nothing happened, because it's all rumors without merit.
