Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Retirement was great for my waistline

Since leaving Honeywell I decided to develop a large land parcel I own in the foothills. When I say develop I mean cutting out a road in the mountain with a pick axe. After a couple of months of this I don't have a stitch of fat on my waistline.

I never thought I could do something so rewarding at 60 years old. The endorphin buzz alone is worth it! Just think of what dreams you could fulfill if you retired early. I know guys that keep working in their 70s just so they don't have to stay at home with their wife.

What would you do if you could retire now?

As you toil, remember that Dave Cote makes about $900k per month in retirement.

I am counting down the days to hike the AT in 2019 at age 60

I'm likewise a fairly recent RIF volunteer, busy enjoying life and in better shape than I've been in decades. Pay no attention to the haters, 10 hours a day at a desk is hell on their hemorrhoids.

Good for you. It is helpful to hear some positive news once in a while. I am 55 and a white male so I know I won't make full retirement. I was in better health in the past but let this place get inside my head and I made work the priority. Now some friends have died from heart attacks, others divorced, and more laid off. Glad to hear it can be good on the other side of the fence as I am sure more of us will join you soon. And ignore the negativity, it's unfortunate they hate others because they made it out of HON alive

I would not monitor this site anymore, for one. You're weird.
