Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Whiners at GE should leave the company, if it so bad then why stick around?

In all of these rumor mill posts there is one common thing... they are started by employees that are not happy at Ge and other unhappy employees jump in...to this I ask why stick around? If ge s---s so much and is going down hill why stay?

These are the people that should be leaving instead of the people being forced out.

I used to care. Not anymore. Leadership only cares about themselves and how wealthy they can make themselves at our expense. We are obstacles to their $Millions. The only reason they need us is they don't want to do any of the work.

I think that whining is actually a sign of caring. We whine because we love this company in the end, and we want to get it better. We are p...d off by how bad the situation is . Whining is a way to get our frustration out. You cannot be frustrated if you do not care, if you are totally detached from the company and its people. The problem is that too many people in the leadership do not care about GE. Total indifference. No stake at all. Those who whine are those who care.

So maybe the question is: how did this company vastly promote people who do not care about the company itself? Indeed...I have never heard a senior leader saying "I love this company". Why I heard that a lot from PB/LP folks.

Tell us how GE will turn around? Or better yet how employees will help it turn around. GE needs billions of dollars very quickly. Businesses will have to be sold or GE gets a big fat government bail out. GE is not going to be the same company. You may not end up working for GE if your business gets sold. It is out of the employees hands to change the future of the company. You can wait and see what happens.

Think of the orchestra on the Titanic. They made great music, loved their jobs and working together. However, during band breaks they b--ched about the executives that led them to believe the ship was unsinkable and didn't need all those extra life boats.

The more experienced people should be praised as they provide valuable insight with their experience. The young crowd needs to appreciate them and learn from a d respect them!

The dumbest thing a person can do in this company is go in head first with a c---y and arrogant attitude, we are all one team and need to learn from each other!

@Sg4GqOb-qgg You should leave the company if you are bigoted against older people. Most of the really young I worked with at GE needed a lot of guidance from, well, you can guess who.

Negative people, positive people, won't change how much debt and how little cash GE has. If you want, try to hang on for the ride if they let you and see how it plays out. GE needs 2XL cash now. Your leaders have made a lot of bad decisions.

What I want to know is why the hostile people taking pot shots at so-called whiners and those over age 55 don't pay attention to the website they are on, while they are blasting their co-workers who are concerned about reductions of force at their workplace.

Regarding the comment "Most of the whiners are old above 55, probably cant find another job." is showing their immaturity, ignorance and bratty entitlement. Grow up, learn about employment law, cease your ageist bigotry, and remember, karma is a b--ch. You will learn a very important and hopefully painful lesson one day my friend.

I can’t comment on the “correct” people decision, I do know that a lot of good, hardworking people were let go and that was terrible; these times are difficult. I do think that all negative people need to leave if all they are going To do is bash the company that they work for, I am thankful that I have a job at Ge and I am able to support my family. They are dragging us all down. I agree that the company needs positive people who are willing to work hard to help this company get through the tough time.

The "correct" people were already shown the door regardless of their work performance. People who believe that they're still around because of exceptionalism are hilariously ignorant.

Anyone thinking only whinners get laid off or that winners don't, doesn't live in reality. Those deciding who gets RIF'd don't care about you or what you do. These are short term financial decisions. Things like salary, benefits, pension, demographics matter.

My problem is that I read winners, not whiners. Perhaps an oversite, but I agree. Whiners should leave. Those who want to stay and support through the hard times should stay. Times will be tough, and people will be laid off at times. Either way, we must support and pull GE out. Whiners won't do that, and that's why they're being let go.

They are two very different things... do they not know how to spell?? The original post is basically saying that the whiners or complainers should move along and leave the company.... not winners.....

@Sg4GqOb-ehd said it best "When you start at another company that doesn't move as fast you look like a rockstar."

I left GE and the pace at my new company is so much slow that I have been rated very high for this reason.

I was in GE Engineering 11 years. GE has some of the best engineers, middle managers, designers and technology. I never found a match in technology details in prior or present companies. The executive fat is always the wasteful layer- just s---ing money and contributing zero- no executive I met at GE contributed anything positive. In general, MBAs contribute zilch anywhere- just show up to take the credit or pass the blame.

Why stay...it isn't a choice for some people. Some of us are waiting to vest in 401k and or stuck under contract for tuition or other with GE. As much as some dislike GE it would cost them more to quit.
