What about customer care? Has anyone heard about the Uniongas contact centres in Brantford and Thunder Bay? Rumours are that they will outsource to Accenture? Is this all just speculation or will the Uniongas contact centres be part of the $20 million in severance?

Definitely getting outsourced. It’s a no brainer in cost savings alone. Probably won’t be for a while though
Enbridge is running the show. Enbridge contracted all the at our years ago. Everything goes to Accenture. This is not even worth discussing as it is a guarantee it will all be contracts out.
Union Gas will merge into the Toronto office in the next 5 yrs
The MAADs application says the $20M in “year one” severances is just for aligning the management structure and leadership groups. I take that to mean the $20M is really just the result of going from two presidents to one and cutting other senior leaders. That’s not to say other people won’t be laid off, but I would assume they’ll make decisions like what to do with the Call Centres after they’ve named the new VPs and those VPs have had a chance to look at “opportunies”. Anyway, I have no special insight on any of this, but the MAADs application is publically available on the OEB website and anyone can read it and draw their own conclusions.
I think they would be stupid to not outsource . They would save millions of dollars. I can’t see that they won’t because from what I hear the contact centre employees are overpaid. I would only be guessing though, no one will know until it happens. I wish someone would give people a heads up!!!!!
