What is the most idiotic and stupid thing a GE Leader or Manager has done that you have personally observed?
We all know you have some good stories stupid is as stupid does.

Spend BILLIONS on a proof of concept called Predix.
There was the one plant manager who was married and got caught having it on with his secretary and hid booze and extra clothes in the ceiling tiles.
Immelt buying back the stock and M&A at the wrong point in the cycle.
To be fair, there should be another thread by GE managers titled 'Most idiotic thing a GE grunt employee has done?' We are all human. Not all managers at GE are bad. I am not a manger, and my immediate manager is awesome (I am at GRC). My HR is a complete and utter absolute useless joke though.
First, my manager doesn’t own a personal computer, only has her GE issued one & conducts plenty of personal business into, including a side business of doing taxes for people.
Today, she was on the phone with someone about the issues she was having with her iPhone and had to ask ‘is there someplace I can go to write a review about their products. I am dissatisfied with them’. I wanted to say ‘have you tried the Internet?’
Way to to go global ops! Hire and promote only the best & brightest! No idea why you are failing
Hire you
Actually pretend to be a leader. No GE leader ever knew how to truly lead, they only knew/know how to deceive (the Street, customers, employees, communities) and to make themselves filthy rich at all cost
It isn't the price they paid for ALSTOM that is the problem. It's the huge fixed overhead that comes with so many people. They could have paid $0 and they'd still be in trouble.
choose I Melt as CEO
@ihc I must agree. The Alstom deal was a colossal blunder at any price. We basically tied an anchor around our necks whilst already drowning.
That idiot at Stoneywood who lost 500 wells
Favouritism over experience, expertise & hard work.
Buy Alstom at such a high price.
I thought JA's whistle-stop tour of Global Ops was dumb. Going floor to floor, telling people that GE's problems are their fault, claiming that he has made sacrifices so other employees had to also. Sure, buddy - you make enough to live in those sh*tty little apartments attached to GO, but go ahead and tell the paycheck to paycheck peasants that it's their fault the stock is tanking and that they need to make sacrifices too.
Dumb. But seeing his little lap doggy TD yapping at his heels was always good for a laugh.
